We have a first name for our boy but no middle name. It's ruddy frustrating. I'm due in three days and want to get it sorted

I'd quite like to have both my dads and my OHs dads name as middle name but the problem is, I don't like my dads name! Annoyingly, my FILs name works really well with our chosen name, but wouldn't be happy having my FIL honoured and not my dad. It's all or nothing for me.

SO the alternative is, to use neither name and go with a completely random name that we both love.

What to do?!

Oh not revealing names just yet incase there is the off chance if family coming across this

How about using your OHs name? I think it's quite nice when boys have their dads name as middle.

And that way you can't offend anyone else.

Don't have a middle name? We spent ages debating a middle name for Rosie and it just came to the point that unless their was one that we obsolete lot wanted and loved, why bother?! So we didn't! And I love her name, when people ask I love saying it's just Rosie ***, it rolls so well just one first and last name! Xx

My first born has my OHs name and my OH wasn't fussed about using it again, strangely he'd prefer to use his Dads this time and I honestly don't mind that. My FIL has a good name, just my dad does not!

This child might be left without a middle name at this rate!

Does your dads name have a shortened version you could use? Or if you look up the meaning you might find something that would honour it? Alternatively is your dads surname a word that could be used as a name or shortened to a name? Best of luck! X

My son has two middle names - one is my dad's middle name and one is my OH's father's name. Although I don't dislike my OH's father's name, I wouldn't have chosen it, but it was important to my OH to remember his father in our son's name (he passed away before we met). For me it's more about the association and its importance than the name itself. After all, it's a middle name and they're rarely used!
