Still no heart beat, doesnt look good...

Hi. Went back to the Doc for my second scan today. I should be 6 weeks and 2 days, but still no heartbeat. The doc said it doesnt look hopeful, there should be a heartbeat by now. She said there is still a chance that it is late to develop but I shouldnt get my hopes up. Have to go back for another scan on Friday. Im so sad. My husband is away so its so hard to go through all this emotion alone! I guess i just have to keep my fingers crossed and accept that whatever happens will be for the best.

Has anyone else here had to wait so long to detect a heartbeat?

I know your scans are very early, most of the time they tell you that the heart beat doesn't develope until 6 weeks, however, your hormone levels in your body will be getting higher all the time, have you been getting blood tests when you've been for check ups?
I think you may have to wait the next few days for your true answer but fingers crossed your just really keen and have your dates wrong.. i hope you get that heartbeat on friday doll,

Hey Flower,
Don't worry about that..it's a good sign , Bloods don't normally get taken until 8 weeks... so they can't be worried about you....
You need to try and relax aq little babes, like you said, it's Very early stages.... dates can be difficult, thats why you hear people talking about the 2 week wait.... as VERY OFTEN it takes two weeks for all the results to be clear.. You see? Don't stress doll...
OH and try not to get down or low, You have a very good..infact better than that ..chance that you DO have a growing little bean in there...

just for ref, I had a scan at 8 weeks and the person doing it took forever to find the HB and nearly gave up saying it probably to early, if I cant egt it a minute ill book you back in 2 week, then you heard it very faintly so maybe its a little early, or there not being patient enough

Thanks everyone for being so optimistic, but the Doc said it didnt look hopeful. I think she was trying to prepare me for the worst. I just dont understand why it seems to have grown and developed so much over the last week, yet still no HB. Its so hard to just try and get on with things and not think about it, especially when im still feeling so sick all the time. Sorry to go on, but Im just feeling so confused.

Sorry ur having such a hard time honey! Its still early days yet so dont give up hope yet. They saw my baby HB at 6w5d very slightly and i think mine develpoed early coz they put dates forward only a few days but every day is a big development for bubs.
Be prepared for the bad news as well as the good sweetie, just incase.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I think like the others said, there sounds like there is still a chance. If your baby has grown in the last week that has to be a good sign, as well as the sickness you are still having.

If they say that the heartbeat isn't usually picked up till 6 weeks, then it may still be too early.

as the others have said it could be that your dates are wrong, i went for dating scan and got put back over a week so you may be a little less gone than you think you are which could be the reason why no HB. if the baby has grown and developed then thats a good sign. x

Good luck for friday hun. if the baby is still growing this is a good sign. When I had to go for an early scan before at 6 weeks, I was told before hand not to get my hopes up as they may well not be able to find a heart beat that early. Its still very early stages so it all my well turn out fine.
