we had a microwave steriliser last time round and found it a faff.
This time we are thinking of getting a cold water steriliser so once we have used a bottle we can just pop it back in again.

What's everybody using and why ?

I used cold water one. But it was just a bucket and miltons.
Worked fine for us and only cost a couple of quid. i preferred being able to just wash up as I went and throw things in during the day x

Cold water steriliser all the way for us!! The microwave and steamer ones are such a faff!

I've never found my steam one a faff? But then I'm one of these terrible mothers who makes bottles up in advance.

I used to use a cold water steriliser. I had a steam one, but didn't like the fact that as soon as you opened the thing up you were supposed to use the stuff in it otherwise it wouldn't be sterile. I was totally paranoid about my tiny daughter getting ill after spending time in special care, plus she was my first, so the cold water one was reassuring!

We used cold water last time and will do the same with this baby.

We've got a to my tippee electric steam steriliser and I find it a bit of a faff! I always end up washing bottles at 9pm so I have a full load to sterilise instead of turning it on just for 1 or 2. We've also got 2 microwave sterilisers which I've never used (came free with both sets of bottles). I think next time I'll give cold water sterilising a go

I have microwave steriliser and find it a nuisance as I ebf I only use it occasionally and often find I have to redo it as I don't use it in time. Annoying. Thought of cold water and even got the Milton tablets but don't have large enough container and didn't want to buy the Milton bucket as I know I'll only use it a few times so won't be worth it. Next time round (hopefully) I think I'll try cold water.

Yeah I was making up all my bottles in 1 go, that's the only way it would work with a microwave one. This time round the perfect prep is around so we have bought one. I was thinking it will be easier to just wash after its done with and chuck it in the steriliser. How long can you keep them in there for ?
X

Miltons recommends changing the water every 24 hours... I left it 48.
They just need to be in there a minimum of 15 minutes I think it is.
I was also a bottle in advancer, well just the boiled water, then added the powder as and when I needed it :) x
