Hi I was wondering if u could help me work this out. I think my work had fiddled me out of my ssp when I was off with my mc. So can I get some ideas of u lovely ladies before I confront the payrol lady at work.

My normal basic wage per month is 838.06

I was of sick for 3 weeks and I know I don't get ssp for the first 3 days but not to worried about the amounts of that as I can't work it out and it seems about right.

July Pay
SSP 81.60
Basic Pay 756.46 (756.46 + 81.60 = 838.06)
Unpaid Sickness -360.61

August Pay
SSP 114.24
Basic Pay 723.82 (723.82 + 114.24 = 838.06)
Unpaid Sickness -272.16

I work out my total sickness to be 613.21 whereas they have it at 632.77?

But my biggest gripe is the ssp, as it has been deducted from by basic pay each month. So that the ssp and basic pay together add to 838.06, I thought ssp was extra to cover the unpaid sickness? not taken from my basic wage, so it works out that I got no extra help with my wages from being sick?

Am I correct in believing this? Or not?

Thank u for any help xx

I'm afraid i actually have no idea! Instead of confronting the payroll lady, why dont' you go in, say you're confused and ask her to explain to you how its worked out. Chances are its done via Sage, in which case it should be accurate but there is always room for human error

I believe ssp would be part of your basic pay so they deduct that as it's HMRC who pay it, anything you get from your company over the ssp rate is down to whatever rules they have if you know what I mean
