sponge pudding and custard

i was speaking to my nan the other day about feeding alice and what she used to cook for me when i was starting to eat solids.

she toldme that when my mum was 2 weeks old, the doc gave her a few spoon fulls of sponge pudding with custard, just to prove babies could take spolids that young!!! could you imagine the reaction to that now days!

holy canooley ! I can't imagine giving that to Otis, I could see him gagging on it! Guess things were different then and yes everyone is overly precious nower days.

I mentioned it today in my postnatal class, and my hv lookd extremly shocked.

but then my nan raised her kids in the age of popping a bit of whisky in the bottle to get them off to sleep, and wrapping babies up and putting them in the porch to help settle them.

Tho she did try spag bowl Sunday indirectly

sheesh but then again look at how many babies and people died that long ago compared to know it goes to prove that this "over reacting" has made things much better.
