i want to freeze ohs sperm next year when he goes to afgahnistan for 9 months ive found somewhere that does a military discount, but does anyone also know of anywhere cheap or that theyd reccomend also how do i go about inseminating it? do i go to a clinic and pay to have it done? or can i do it at home? sorry if it sounds stupid i dont know anything about this kind of stuff xxx

im not too sure, are you going to try to concieve when hes away then is that the reason? I think you woulkd just pay to hae artificial insemination with it each month when you are ovulating?

I think your OH would have to make a few donations before he goes, then you'd go to the clinic to have it put in at the right time. Do you have a fertility clinic yet? I'm not sure if the NHS would do it.

thanks ladies yep i want to try while hes away as 9 months is a long time for him to be away and weve trying for a year now so we dont want to waste another 9 months , no i didnt think nhs would, im not at a clinic at the moment but private doesnt seem to expensive though its £140 to freeze and store after the 50% discount so will just have to find out how much insemination is :-) x x x

prob about 300 or somewhere there about per insemination but then like you say u may get discount x

At our clinic its £800 total for one cycle but that doesn't include freezing or the cost of the clomid. Includes nurse consultation, follicle scans, sperm treatment and insemination.

thanks you i wouldnt need clomid if im ovulating though would i ? wish i could just take it home and do it lol alot cheaper xxx

No but when you do IUI they often give you something to help you produce more eggs to give you more of a chance. Its only the cost of a prescription but it doesn't sound as if you'd need it.

Its a shame you can't just keep the sperm in ice cube trays in your freezer, thaw them when you need them and transfer them to a turkey baster to do the job!
