hi
i had my daughter 10days ago and im still so sore down below! i cant stand up for more than 2minutes cause it feels like everythings about to fall out down there! could it be sanitry towels? cause iv had to have one on constant since baby was born then maybe its rubbing? last night i took the towel off for a couple of hrs and i felt so much better. does anyone else get this?
i had stitches on my cervix too cause it tore(very traumatic!) and painkillers arent doing anything.
im still bleeding heavy too. is it normal to be bleeding alot 10days after?

It is sugeested not to use sanitery towels but to use actual maternity pads, as there is something in the san towels that irritates the wound....also if you had stitches it will get sore as the stitches finally heal as they get tighter  but that only lasted a day or two for me.

My MW recommended maternity pads, and letting your bits air for a bit each day to help the healing process.

Hope that helps

You're probably very swollen and very bruised down there, it'll take a few weeks before things settle down.
I had a fourth degree tear after my last birth and it was ages before I could stand up straight! I was waddling around like and old lady. It always got worse as the day went on.

Don't worry, it'll get better in time, just try to stay off your feet as much as you can.

I did get kind of nappy rash after having DH - I bled for a long time and found that if I could air myself  everyday it healed far better - with alll the washing and not being able to dry properly and then the pads I think a bit of fresh air works wonders.

Don't take this as an invitation to run around your street naked in the name of healing :rotfl:

I felt like I was going to lose my insides aswell, like a bruised pressured feeling if I was standing for too long. I also made the fatal mistake of wearing sanitary towels and it was itchy and sore so I would definitely not reccommend doing that.

I can't remember how long I was sore for but it was quite a while possibly about four week, the pressure is horrible!

hi thanks for getting back to me.
im gonna get some maternity pads instead then. i hope they help!

I agree with whats been said about sanitary pads. I used them and had the exact same feeling you are describing. My midwife also told me there is a special thing in the towel which draws out the blood when you are having a period and thats why I was feeling so heaving and uncomfortable down below.

Word of advice, get the Mothercare Maternity Towels, they are sooooooooooo soft and gorgeous, really soothing on sore stiches :D

I was sore for weeks and I only had a small internal tear with no stitches. I would try using maternity towels if you arn't already as they are softer than sanitary towels although not as good protection. If you are only taking paracetamol maybe ask for something stronger if you arn't breast feeding.

I had the same thing eventually was given msu and they found i had inflamation cells and was put on anti biotics .
Was given diclofenac for the pain which are ok for b/feeding.
Was also advised when you have a nap or a lie down take all your bottom half off , lie on a towel and air your bits.

The cut me  and I had stitches, I wore maternity pads and it healed ok. I do remember having to sit on a quilt tho and I couldn't walk for a couple of weeks hardly

I had a third degree tear 16 days ago and was given allsorts of antibiotics and painkillers. Declofenac was one of them and i was breast feeding on that so they should be ok. I have been using sanitary towels as i have found they are a lot more absorbant and the night time ones are not that uncomfortable for the heavier bleeding.

Baths seem to work a treat.

Saying that i am in agony by bed time and cant move or sit properly on the bed which is making feeding and cuddling my baby difficult.

Its going to take a long time but i have been assured that it does get better.

I had 3rd degree tear with my 1st and it took quite a while before it felt exactly as it had done before but every day got a little easier :D I found it painful to dry my bits after doing a pee and to avoid any possiblilty of infection i got a shower attachment thingy for the bath and had a very quick wash a few times a day and then used a hairdrier to dry off (i kid you not) but - it really worked - stiches healed and no infection - loads of salt baths as well. hope you feel better soon  but just get into bed with your LO and stay there - thats the best way to get wel :D l quick

putting a witchazel patch down there really helps things calm down. You can buy it in boots and just pop it on cottonwool pads and set them on your bits for a while. It takes time but you will feel normal again

Yeah the Mothercare maternity pads are definitely the best. Boots are a close second. I had a second degree tear too - it does get better but unfortunately it takes time. Plenty of baths to keep everything clean! Paracetamol and ibuprofen taken together work well to dull the pain. Some people also recommed arnica tablets to help healing.
I bled for 5 weeks .
