Grrrr stupid work I hate it at the moment!
Anyone else's memory suffering? I forget one lil thing and they make such a huge deal! I sometimes get the fewling they are making things up I have forgotten as I know I wouldn't forget etc :-(:-(
Bring on 5 months!
Also can anyone help me with this, I don't want to go back to work, should I tell them now? Do i have to tell? Do I have to pay back / lose any maternity pay if I don't go back?

Thanx x

dont tell them as they can refuse to pay u, ur better off going on maternity then a few week before u go back say something like after talking it over with ur oh you unfortunatly wont be able to return to work due to financial matter such a childcare cost and to take this as your notice.

also memory loss is so comon its called baby brain where u seemto just go dippy, ive been like it all the wat through lol

I would look into your works maternity policy very thoroughly. With mine you are only entitled to certain, higher rate of maternity pay if you intend to go back to work for a period of no less than three months after your maternity leave is up. If you claim the pay then don't go back you have to pay the money back. So just make sure you're fully clued up before making any decisions.

And don't worry about the memory loss. I'm constantly forgetting things at work and often find myself having impromptu afternoon naps at my desk! Suprised they haven't fired me yet ha xxx

Baby brain is definitely an unfortunate side effect of pregnancy - i was meant to pick my dancing partner up on sunday afternoon at 1pm - so just before 1 i left the house - totally forgot that it takes nearly half an hour to get to hers. she was not a happy bunny. oops.
xxx

Thanks guys , feel better bout the memory thing, wish other people would understand!
My work would never even think of offering any extra maternity so I guess I will be ok to just keep quiet!

If like me your work only pays the statutory minimum they have to pay it by law. If you decide not to go back you won't have to pay them anythng back.

If your work has a maternity package which pays more than the statutory minimum then you will need to look at your works policy. It seems common that if they pay more they expect you to go back for minimum amount of time otherwise you have to pay back the extra paid on top of statutory.
