Hi
I woke up this morning and my fmu was really dark- like tea colour. I don't feel dehydrated (no headache or anything) but had 3 pints of water as I asusmed this was what it was. Since coming to work I've had two cups of tea and a fruit tea - just been again and it it still really dark

I've not other symptoms - feel fine really. Should I be worried about this or just carry on drinking water? I haven't had a letter to assign me a midwife yet so not sure who to call, and doctors won't be open tomorrow. any help appreciated.

cheers
Andrea

Hi hun

I'm afraid I can't help as I've not had this experience.

You don't need to be assigned a midwife to phone the community midwive's office at the hospital - it's better to be re-assured than to worry about it.

Hope you get to the bottom of it

Could be a UTI? These can cause changes in urine colour. Best to get it checked out sweetie, good luck

I would get this checked out as you may have traces of blood in your urine.( Dark brown could mean older blood from kidneys) .. this could change the colour. If it is blood it could be because of an infection in either your bladder of kidneys so always best to get it checked........ Hopefully it is nothing more than a little dehydration..... we need to drink more water when pregnant due to the amniotic fluid and extra demands on our body!

Try NHS direct to find out if you have a local walk in centre or emergency GP's that you can visit to get your sample checked.....

Hope this helps

Update
I called NHS direct last night and they took all the details and then told me to ring my doctor and see if I could speak to her to see what she advised. Could not get past the receptionist, who refered me to the early pregnancy unit (this had never been mentioned when I told the doctor I was pregnant so I didn't know it existed. Anway, byu this time they were closed.

Hubby took a sample to work with him as he works in a clinic and they have tested it, and no blood, infection or anything, so I think it must have just been dehydration. I do drink tonnes though so am really surprised at the extra I need. I was at the gym the night before it happened so probably this was the cause.

Anyway - well done if you got to the end of this post  - didn't think it was so long!
Thanks for the advice
Andrea
