Can anyone please tell me what the law classes as off-roadfor SORN vehicles, for cars whilst you're waiting to get them MOT'd and taxed..?
Any help greatly appreciated

the sorn people are really stupid

they keep sending my boyf letters even tho they said its sorted
:wall:

If you do SORN it make sure its completely off the road. We parked ours on the front of our drive as we were clearing some gardening at the back gate. One back tyre was slightly touching the road and a guy from the DVLA knocked on the door and told us to move it. About 6 weeks later we got an £80 fine through the post!

Don't you have to have it completely off the road (like on a grass verge or something) and covered over? They are really funny about that round here

No it has to be off the road as in a private garage or driveway, you can't keep in on a public grass verge. Not sure about the covered over thing though

Thanks everyone, I thought it would have to be private land but wasn't sure, really helpful for people without driveways isn't it  Thanks again

i got stung on this... i didn't put my car on a SORN as it wasn't being used and was on my private drive.. the way the SORN used to be worded was if the car was on a public road... didn't mention your own private drive.. got fined £80... i wrote a nasty letter to the DVLA.... i think they may have changed the wording slightly now...
