james has had excema since he was tiny. we use diprobase and diprobath and it's not that bad. However, he's got a patch on his shoulder which never clears up. i think it's infected now and it looks very sore. Took him to the gp, they did a skin scraping and I'm waiting (and waiting!) for the result to come back. My thought is this though - it's on the side where all his wee jumpers and tops have poppers and even though he always wears a vest, I'm wondering if he could be allergic to the metal in the poppers? My MIL has incredibly sensitive skin and is allergic to almost all metal. does anyone have experience of this?

Poppy doesn't at the minute but I do. I can't wear cheap watches or earings or I get a really bad itchy rash. I have to be really careful with the buttons on my jeans too so i don't get rashes on my tummy. I use the cream the doc gives me on it and it usually clears up pretty quickly. Hopefully your doc will be able to give you LO something once the results are back in. In the meantime though it might be worth trying to find tops without poppers to see if it helps at all.

Yes. my LO had this so bad, it started weeping all through her clothes...

took her to GP, said it was just eczema which had got a bit out of control. She gave us emmolient to put in her bath and on her skin and for the really bad patches (like your sons), we got Fucibet, which is a steroid based cream. Im not joking, it cleared up within days! and her skin was perfect again. Sometimes it flares up again, but a tiny little layer of fucibet does the trick everytime.

It does sound very similar to your little boys shoulder, and that was the exact place Livvy had it.
