Since we have got back from our hols James has been sooo clingy its untrue. He isnt happy unless im holding him or playing with him which means im finding it difficult to get anything done. Alix is helping but he has become a real mummies boy and if i walk out the room he really really cries with huge big tears and I feel too bad and have to come get him. :wall: :wall:

I just dont get a minute at the mo (right now he is in his walker trying to eat my toe whilst moaning and looking at me as if to say "Mummy pick me up!!"

Did anyone else find this after a holiday or is it an age thing or what? I love playing with him etc but there is soooo much to do post holiday that Im getting stressed about it all. :(

aaaarw, i remember Jamie gettin clingy after we went to spain - i jus put it dwn to our surroundings had changed and he was scared I would go too cos it was a different place?

best thing I found was talkin to him while I got on with doin things, not leavin the room but not pickin him up every time he wanted me and it gradually wore off

hth

Hi Jen,
Mine was the same at 7-8 months too and somewhere there is a thread on here about it (when you were on holiday I think?). The clinic told me that it is normal around 8-9 months, then peaks at 1 year old. We're peaking right now. Today I worked out that it has been 1 year since I could clean the house in the way I want to...

I can't get anything done and it really bugs me because I think I am the kind of person that need to have a sense of achievement each day!!! and not just connected with LO learning new stuff but 'me' stuff.

I ended up putting her in the sling a lot but I don't know what to suggest because you can't really do that.

Does he like Alix? Maybe try what I did and make HIM the one to leave rather than you. Eg. get her to take him outside, in sling, pram etc in garden, or for a walk, and you stay inside. Mine always went out ok and got distracted and 'forgot' to miss me for a while.

its normaly for them to get like this between 7-9 months. they also get a fear of strangers around this time so lets be prepared for lots of clingy babies and aching arms! :wall:

Thanks guys. He is ok with ALix as long as i am in the room but as soon as i leave he cries. :(

We have worked out a few distraction methods that work for a while so i have got a bit done, its just so exhausting trying to lug round an 11kg baby whilst preggers!! :wall: :wall:

Just have to hope it gets better soon. On the one hand i dont mind it cos its sooo sweet that he loves me so much and the look in his eyes when he sees me makes my heart melt but at the same time I feel a bit suffocated cos i dont get a minute for me - mainly to rest more than anything cos Im sooo tired with this pregnancy.

Lilys going through this stage too :talkhand: :wall: and now she crawls like lightening and can pull her self up. If I put her down on the floor she shoots over to me screams at my feet then if I dont pick her up she crawls up my leg so she stands up crying at me :( Its soooo exausting and Im not pregnant! Doesnt help Ive got a stinking cold but geez I really hope it doesnt peak anymore :(
