Slightly pointless but so proud of OH today.
We live in a studio council flat in West London, no space whatsoever for LO (mainly due to the shape of the flat as it’s an L and no a square) we also had a problem with mould last winter (that the council did nothing about!) Baby is due on x-mas eve so the chance of that comeing back worrys me! Not to mention the fact they left us without heating and hot water for 20 odd days this year! (not good if that happens when we have a newborn!)

Having spoken to the council about being moved they said that we are not high priority until the baby is born as we aren’t 'overcrowded' we would face a wait of 6-12 months after baby is born to get a place with more space!
Obviously this is not good to hear (esp for me I’ve been worrying my little socks off) we have no space to put the folded up pram let alone a cot!
So today OH had a meeting with our local MP today and did really well I’m really proud of him!
As he’s an engineer he measured out the flat and made a drawing (like an architect’s drawing) showing how little space we have. The MP was really impressed and is going to fight our case with the council to help us get moved quicker!

:D:D:D

Thats fantastic huni!! Aww I hope they come through for you!! Things are so different down south than up here.. You can get a house on the council within a few months if you're having a baby.. I think thats the reason for all the teen pregnancies =/ Good luck though sugar I hope they come through for you x x x x x x x x x

Aw yey for OH, fingers crossed that it helps and you get a new place! xxx

Hope it goes well I had to wait years to get a move and already had 3 kids and my flat was so damp, horrible and over crowded :( I hate the council!

Well done OH! Hope they do get it sorted for you! xx

Fingers crossed you get somewhere with the MP

Its rubbish that your flat isn't suitable for a baby, we had a similar situation, where we only had 1 bedroom in a private lett, but didn't qualify for a 2bedroom untill we were overcrowded, so we had to put up with it til baby was a few weeks old.

If its very bad with mould ect would your landlord/council not be breaking their lease by leaving the house in a bad state? Could you move somewhere else temporarily so there's somewhere safe for when baby comes?

Hope it works out, it must be a worry

Littlemiss all they did was send us a leaflet on dealing with it lol. We got rid of it I'm just worried it'll come back!

I'd say if it comes back and they dont get rid of it you could with-hold your rent as they aren't providing the correct service.
