So frustrated!!!

Hi everyone!

I went for my scan today and Ive been dying to know if its a girl or boy, so was really really looking forward to it...... and the doctor couldnt tell yet! He said baby was lying in a tricky position and although he tried to prod my belly and get him to budge a little it didnt work! im so frustrated, now i have to wait another month til my next scan!!!
Anyone else had to wait this long to find out the sex?

i had a few scans leading up to 12 weeks then I didn't have another scan until 19 which is when we could tell sex of baby x

what a shame they couldn't tell you! grr.
I found out yesterday at 21 weeks, but even then she wasn't saying she was totally sure. I might have a 4D scan at some point in the future and get them to say for ultimately sure that they can tell it's a girl!

I had my normal NHS 12 week scan and thought I knew then to be honest, I swear I saw things! I then had a private scan at 16 week and my boy theory was confirmed....at 21 weeks the NHS scanning people re-confirmed it so I'm a million percent certain my little pudding is a boy! I couldn't wait a month to find out, I'd book in and have a private one done if I were you (and if you have the finances around the £75 marker) I'd not have lasted till me 21 week scan knowing what I thought I knew at the 12 week scan.

I've got just under 2 weeks to go until I find out the sex (hopefully). We only get 2 scans here if we're lucky and I had my dating at 9w2d. SO it feels like an AGE waiting for this next one!

It's all I can think about at the moment!

I'm sure the next month will go fast for you, just try to keep busy.

I find out on monday. I have been dreading it incase they can't tell me the sex! Hopefully the baby will be good and open his/her legs for us all to see it's bits!

I have about another 3.5 months (at least) before I find out Didn't find out at the 20 week scan and have another scan next week cos they couldn't see the face at the last scan and wanted us to come back but we're still gonna wait until bubs is born to find out.

You won't feel another month honest and as Nicola said you could always go private if can't wait.

I was like u smurf, little bugger had his head well and truly snuggled up in my pelvis so had to have another one at 21 weeks. Least we got anothr peek at the cutie!

I think it depends where in country you are, I know in my area the 20 week one is usually last unless any problems arise and they need to check baby.

Thanks for all your replies everyone. I guess another three weeks waiting isnt so bad! Im just glad everything else is okay
I just really wanted to start buying things and i find it hard if i dont know what it is!

I have my 20 week scan next friday and then i have booked in for a 4d scan on the 16th June 28 weeks but we are not finding out the sex at either we want it to be a total surprise when baby is born and we find out by looking what baby is As hard as it is to wait! it will be worth it im sure

After the 20 week scan do you get any more scans? Or is that it till the baby is born?

I know here in my area (and area to area this changes) you get the 12 and 21 week scans as standard - these are your ONLY scans unless the 21 week scan detects something like a low laying placenta in which case you get another scan once your 34 weeks, if the 21 week scan shows an issue with baby or something you would get a later scan and occassionally even if the 21 week scan is ok as mine was, I might get to see baby again should I be offered a growth scan - although these are not normally offered for no reason.

So basically 12 + 21 is it unless they detect issues/problems at the 21 week scan.

That's just my area though, somewhere up north or something might be different.

Sometimes baby is in a strange position, so don't worry, just wait till the next scan

Talking about how many scans everyone gets, ive been really lucky. Living in Spain, Ive already had five scans! usually they give you about one a month, sometimes even more towards the end, but this is all with a private health insurance. But i think even on the spanish equivalent of NHS they do a lot more scans than in UK. Its really nice to be able to get a regular look at buba.

When we had our private scan, James was being a sod and laying in a awkward position so the sonographer sent me to the toilet for a wee then told me to wiggle my hips like i was doing hoop la hula and then to lay on my side for the 2nd attempt, finally he moved and we saw,
I felt that i HAD to go private and for £85 including a dvd com it was worth every single penny Watford don't tell you the sex and also only give you one scan at approx 20/22 weeks and i couldnt wait that long especially after my bleeds and other complications
I'd reccomend babybond to everyone, she really wasnt going to let us go untill she could take a picture of his bits
Was in there for an hour in total

Wow feefee thats amazing. Its great that they made such an effort for you to be able to see the baby well! I never thought about getting up and wiggling around! The doctor did give my belly a good poke (ouch!) but that didnt seem to do any good!

Babybond are brill, we have the full 4d sacn with our last baby and have booked one for 16th June to have a good look at this baby they really are nice and i was sent for so many walks and was there for about 3 hours in total , scanned for about 1hr 15 mins and got it all on dvd to watch well worth every penny thats for sure .... Congrats Feefee on your little boy i must have missed that post!

We get 2 over here if we are lucky must be so nice getting to have a look at bubs once a month
