I am most likely not pregnant but I have had a few symptoms so I dont want to rule it out but I have a smear test tomorrow.

I will take a FRER tomorrow morning but if by some miracle I am pg but its too early for a positive is it still safe to have the smear done?

I know the colposcopy department is wary and always does pregnancy tests before doing the procedure so just discuss with the nurse. I think your hormones might be off and can influence the smear too although I don't know how much truth is in that just go to the appointment discuss your situation and reschedule if necessary x

Thank you. I will take the test just to ensure I didnt miss a faint line lol. I will talk to her about it and see what she says. I am going right after work, joy! x

 Did everything go alright?

Hey! Yeah I had it done, it was uncomfortable and a little painful but its over now hopefully for another 3 years. BFN with the FRER as I had expected

Jiss I hate a smear test too!! I'm really sorry for the BFN... Biiig hugs!!!

For future refrence you are fine to have a smear and be unsure of pregnancy, it's if you need a Colposcopy they tell you to use protection or Abstain, unless you know for certain you are pregnant. they can do the colposcopy while you are pregnant but need to be aware, they are also unable to remove the cells. Unfortunately This is me, i am due AF today or tomorrow.. Colposcopy booked for 22nd, so will not be trying this month.. :( mega gutted xc

I had a smear around the exact time I conceived so didn't know I was pregnant. They found abnormal cells and carried out the colposcopy at around 11 weeks. I was told that it was perfectly safe, but totally my decision and that some people decline to have them as if they then go on to miscarry there is always the "what if" I went ahead anyway and all was fine. With a smear test they're taking a few cells from your cervix, so going nowhere near your embryo which would be settling in far beyond that if you were pregnant.
