Anyone used it?

Until now, Alyssa has just been on the normal SMA Gold but she's been so sicky and gassy I thought I'd try the stay down stuff as I think she's refluxy. She's in the middle of her first bottle just now and she seems so much more relaxed. I'm really hoping it makes a difference to bedtime settling as I've had a few tricky nights now that dh is back at work and can't help as much through the night.

Anyone had any experience with this type of formula? xx

Never tried it but heard it can cause constipation because its ticker, we had the same prob wit gaviscon

If you think its reflux might be worth having chat with your HV or doc, Could just be wind either, Does she seem to be in pain or just vomit everything back up?

Could also try raising the head of her mosses/cot a little

She doesn't vomit everything back up, but she's had two projectile incidents in the last few days, and every other time it's just a bit of sick. She's definitely windy but Infacol isn't touching it and can't seem to find gripe water anywhere.

She's currently sleeping in her carrycot which is inclined, for that reason, but doesn't seem to be helping. The only thing that helps her is sleeping on her tummy, which I'm not going to let her do. Going to make a gp appointment next week xx

Have you tried going to an Osteopath? Cassius struggled with really bad pains due to wind but since seeing the Osteopath it has really improved. Some of the ladies in our NCT group have had success too. X

i use aptimil on my Alyssa but we had reflux and wind etc at first and the doc gave us gaviscon. its perfectly normal for a baby to sick up a bit, some more than others and should stop by 12 weeks if its nothing major. the staydown milk is just a bit thicker. if it persists then id go the docs but i dont think it would be wise to use staydown milk and gaviscon together so be aware u might have to change milk again if that happens. if she gets constipated the cooled boiled water on its own or mixed with 2 teaspoons of orange juice or brown sugar will help.

at 2 and a half weeks there isnt much you can do to make them settle when you want them to, make nighttimes quiet and calm and dark. try to put into place a bedtime routine if you like and stick to that if possible, i tend to do the same thing every night anyway lol. swaddling can help a lot even if they dont seem to like it at first and u can buy foam wedges to put under the mattress of the cot if need be when shes big enough

hey hun never used the stay down stuff but im sure bellariven did in the beginning with Riven you could pm her to ask im sure she wouldnt mind xx

Hey Hun

We did use stay down at the beginning as he was very sicky, unfortunately for him it didn't really work but only because he had pyloric stenosis.

Whilst he was on it he didn't up chuck as much and he wasn't constipated, we had to get variable flowing teats as its thicker than normal.

Anything is worth a try :)

Yeah we noticed this and stopped using it. She really needs the slow flow and it kept getting blocked up. Back to the gold stuff, and touch wood she's been ok on it xx

After his op he went back on SMA Gold and he has been good on it ever since xxx
