Size 24

   Have you spoken to your GP about it? Maybe they could refer you to a nutrionist?

One of my friends has been puttingon weight over the last year and I have suggested getting an exercise DVD to do togther- it might only help lose a few pounds but it will get the ball rolling.

Try eating from smaller plates- it's what the french women do and it works for them. Obviously while you are breastfeeding you can't diet but if you are getting enough calories your milk supply won't suffer :?

:) You seem like such a lovely person that no matter how much you weigh you'll still be perfect to your little girl.

Oh Valentine hun... I've let myself go too and the way I'm going at the moment, my weight it just going to keep creeping up. (I know I'm pregnant, but during the last year or two the pounds have been adding themselves to my belly, bum & thighs!)

I don't know if this will help, but I have a load of weight watchers stuff I can send you? It's all computerised so you can work the points out etc on the calculator (I think it's in Excel format  ) but it's really easy to follow and because it's WW, you can eat whatever you like, providing it's within the points you are allowed each day.

There is a food diary that comes with it & how many points each food is etc.

I bought it off ebay for 99p for my Mum so I have unlimited copies! If you'd like me to send you it, PM me with your email address and I'll send it over

xx

what about rather than thinking diets, you think health eating then the whole family can join in so you don't feel excluded at meal times. other things that are worth while are swapping one type of food for another for eg, jacket spud with cheese, butter etc - swap for jacket spud, cottage cheese, veg, no butter. this way you're a lot less likely to feel hungry.

aww V, even tho im at the other end of the spectrum i COMPLETELY feel where youre coming from and i wish i could give u some advice! hopefully when iv learned to eat sensibly i might be able to pass on some gems- they might work for losing weight as well as gaining?

i bet what helps most tho is a slimming buddy, do u have a potential candidate?

i wish u the best of luck! aww and what jade said was so sweet- i second that completely its so true!

I'm in a simliar boat. I lost a stone whilst I was pregnant due to hyperemesis. I haven't weighed myself recently but I'm pretty sure I've put most of it back on.

I also comfort eat.

I've started walking to and from town every day, but that doesn't help much if I then eat chocolate!! Don't even know why I do it sometimes.

Have you ever tried slimming world? You can eat a lot on that, as long as its the right things. You can pick up the stuff to do it on ebay quite cheap.

And hey, if you want a bud to try and get some of it shifted - maybe I'm your man! Can kick each other up the butt ;)

I no how difficult it is to get the motivation.

I was a size 14 when i met OH 3.5 years ago, im now a size 18 moving towards a 20. Granted i have only just had a baby but im not helping myself, i seem to have my cravings now, in that its the medium bags of cheese doritos and i polish a packet off every night

Ive got my holiday coming up.

I hereby declare 1st September will be my healthy diet start date.

Oh V, I'm sorry you're feeling so crap!

Like you, I put on weight AFTER birth. It's so frustrating, but being at home with a baby is a total change of lifestyle. And it's changing your lifestyle again that'll help with the weight loss. Don't know about you but I eat so much more being with LO. Stanley starts an apple, I finish it. Don't want him to have a full bag of Quavers, so I share........ It got to supper time today and I wasn't even hungry!

I LOVE how you're a planner. But you sound as if you're already building yourself up for a fall when you start your new plan. That is absolutely NOT going to happen. It can't. You WILL succeed. But you need to sort your head before your waistline.

Have you thought of self-coaching? It can really help motivate and is fab for planners as it involves a lot of fine honing of goals before you kick off. I love Fiona Harrold, her 'ten minute life coach' is invaluable.

You can do this. You owe it to your baby, so you can chase her round! And you owe it to future babies to be fit and healthy. But much more than that, you owe it to yourself to feel happy when you look in the mirror. We're with you ALL THE WAY! I know how you enjoyed your preggo diary and writing is your forte after all. Would a blog help you on your journey?

Good Luck

I also forgot to mention that I am also v overweight. Ideally I'd need to lose 5 stone I reckon! The thought of this panics me even more. Have to break it down into little targets I guess?

Hope you are feeling a bit better this morn

The only advice I have is to break down what you want to acheive (a weight or dress size) into mini goals where you can reward yourself after. Try not to focus on the end result and just on your current goal.

That way you feel like you're acheiving regularly rather than looking at how far you still have to go, look at how far you've come!

Anything that's big is easier to acheive when its broken down into little bits.

Valentine, if you can afford it but a treadmill. I do 40 mins in the morning and evening and combined with ww have lost over a stone now.
Speak to the doctor though hunni and ask to be referred to a nutritionist - they can really help you out.

I don't know if it works cause got pregnant just as I was starting it so had to give it up but I brought and read the paul mckenna book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Can-Make-You-Th ... 0593050541 and it seemed really good its about getting in tune with your body and knowing when your full up and then stopping eating regardless of whats on your plate it teaches you to know when your really hungry and when your actually just borred or thirsty and to recognise when your full before you get too full. I can really see how it would work and will probably try it again after having baby but I can't tell you from personal experience if it does work, I did find it easy to follow for the short time I was doing it, its all about slowing down when your eating putting your cutlery down between mouthfuls and really chewing and enjoying your food you can eat whatever you want too thats the key to it if you think your on a diet and cant have certain foods you will start to crave them but apparently by listening to the cd every day and eating your food slowly and actually tasting it you will after awhile automatically want to eat healthier foods.

you're in good company hon - loads of us here have decided we need to buck our ideas up and shift some pounds, not for anyone else but for us.

i'm now walking every day - i put my ipod on and carry connor in his sling (extra workout that way), then i walk in time to something upbeat and sing along to connor as i go. other walkers must think i'm nuts    it doesn't cost anything to walk - you just need to motivate yourself to leave the house.

i've also got a pic of me in my bikini now on the fridge :puke: (i take it down if anyone comes round!!!!) and also a pic of how i used to look and would like to look again :)

i refuse to look at the biscuit shelves in the shop and keep buying all the 2 for 1-type offers on fruit. i eat the fruit when i'm peckish and have upped my water intake even more.

my pcos means that i ought to eat low-GI foods so i'm now trying to keep to this; i can really recommend it health-wise - its a lifestyle thing, rather than a diet and i think its v sensible.

good luck hon

Awwww hun, I totally know how you feel. I was the same, lost weight during pregnancy, pilled it on after went up to a size 22, now I am in a size 18 (I was a 16 pre-preg, I'm very curvy!!) I bought some DVD's and do them, I also contiuned eating sensibly.... know I just dont buy any sweets or biscuits unless I know I have someone coming round.

I would defo receomend the DVD's tho, Arianna even tries to copy me with them as she just thinks Mammy is dancing!

I would recommend the weight watchers way of doing it.
I went from a size 20/22 down to a 14 (five and a half stone) on it.
You don't need to go to the classes. SOmeone offeed to send you the stuff earlier in the thread and I can help you out too.
You can make meals that your oH will still enjoy. Nothing is not allowed, so long as you keep to your points limit for the day.
Combine that with a bit of walking or something and you will soon notice a difference!!
Let me know if i can help..

Aww Valentine, hunny I am so sorry you feel like this, I do understand, as I also have to lose some, as i said on another thread. I have found this page with loads of good tips and FREE! It is the healthy heart/lung association of the US, so some of the stuff is very American, but I also find the menu planner (I know you like having a plan! ) is useful, and some of the recipes are good too. Personally what I am doing is making a salad my basis for my main meals along with some protein form, meat fish or eggs, but either grilled or boiled/poached - nothing fried. And it is beginning to work. I have lost 2.550 kgs in three weeks, slow, I know but better for you, coz you dont put it on again as easily. It is about changing habits, not starving yourself.

Also, i have been a bit naughty this week as i have had friends visiting. :wall: and they kept taking me out for meals, what could I do???

Anyways, hope it helps

I totally know what you going through! I lost weight when I was having Aimee and pretty much stayed the same when i was having Nathan. I piled more weight on in the 1st year after Nathan was born and was almost a stone heavier when he was 11 months old than I was when he was born. So it took me almost a year to get my self motivated to loose weight. By the time I started my diet on 2nd of Jan this year I had almost 7 stone to loose and it is very off putting. I just looked at it as a stone at a time which helped. I counted calories, watched the fat, completely cut out alcohol for the first few months and started doing some exercise. I've now lost 4st 6lb and almost in a size 14 now. I still have 2st 7lb that I would like to loose but if I hadn't started when I did I would probably have 8st to loose by now.

Oh luv

getting pregnant and having gall stones made me drop from a 22 to a 16/18.

When i had my gall stones i lived off boiled rice and chicken. No cheese, butter (which meant hardly any bread), basically no fat. but then its easier not to eat them when whenever i did i would be doubled over in pain.

But saying that, im happier being a larger woman than what i was when i was a size 8-10. My aim after having this one is to get to a comfortable 14-16 and stay at that weight.

Following on from what SarahH has said... there are even some groups near me that do mother and baby exercise classes.ive not been but you have mats laid out for the bubs whilst the mums do aerobics.
