Hi eveyone,

Just had my 20 week scan and the sonographer told me there was only 2 vessels in the cord rather than 3. She said there was nothing to worry about and everything else was normal and the tests for abnormalities at 12 weeks showed as low risk.

I am such a worrier though and of course i googled it and you get duch mixed experiences. We have a growth scan booked at 28 weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance xx

I’m a midwife and have seen it quite a few times - the babies have all been healthy and without issue in my experience. X

Thank you so much for responding Princess81, I was thinking that i would call my midwife but she isn't in the surgery until Tuesday but you responding has really made me feel so much better x

You’re welcome :) glad to have helped. it’s part of the checks that we do at delivery that there are 3 vessels in the cord.... which shows how common an issue 2 vessels is - when we specifically need to document it and not just assume there are 3. If it was any concern they’d have referred you to a fetal medicine specialist. Some
Go totally undiagnosed so we just find it at birth and just document it x
