The witch has just flown in today and boy is she on a mission to be bad!! In so much much pain with cramps and bad backache. Neva eva had it this bad before.

Im just wondering though is it time to go to docs now?? Im on cycle 12 we started trying for a lo last may when we got married and to be honest i cant help thinking i want some answers now.

I did go over back in dec when my periods were very irregular and i was having some other problems and he did my 21day bloods which apparently were fine. I think its time to go back, what do you girls think? Should i give it a little longer? and if i do go what do i say to get the ball rolling?

Sorry for such a long post just so down today and feel so helpless and dont know what to do.

The NICE guidelines say that after a year, a couple should be offered investigations, such as semen analysis, and if that is OK, a check to see if your tubes are blocked. The guidelines are quite well written and easy to understand, and if you know the recommendations this can be useful in dealing with GPs, because this is acknowledged to be 'best practice'.

Bear in mind however that what fertility treatment you are offered on the NHS if you do need it, will depend on your PCT and what they are prepared to fund in your area. For instance, my PCT does to fund IUI at all, even though it is recommended in some circumstances by NICE. You can search for your PCT's policy, which is likely to be available on the Internet.

Edited to add: Sorry, that turned out to be quite a technical post, which is probably not what you were looking for, reading yours again! I've left it, in case it's useful info for you. You don't say how old you are. If you are under 30, then chances are it will happen naturally in the next year (about 90-95% of couples fall pregnant naturally in the first 2 years). If you are over 30, I personally would go for testing. If you are over 35, don't delay, time could be short. The testing will not cost you anything, and you can still keep trying in the meantime. Good luck and I really hope you get your BFP soon xx

Im going to be 30 in aug so i know time isnt on my side now. I have other health issues so i dont want to wait forever if there is something wrong that cud be fixed easily. I have a little money put away in savings so i wud be happy to pay for sum tests if it helps to speed things up.

Hey hun I would definitely go to docs and get the ball rolling. These things can take ages and will do no harm in starting the process. If you fall naturally in the meantime then that's a bonus :) xx

Personally, I would go for testing then. Your GP should arrange it for free, although they may want to wait until you are 30.

Thanks girls, i think i will go on weds he is a good doc and always listens to me and if he cant start anything yet at least i will feel like ive tried to do something. I cant help but feel that something is wrong and would rather know what it is and deal with it than just keep hoping every month.

Congratulations by the way little angel.

Thanks :) I'm never sure whether to show the ticker in the LT forum, but I figure it's a success story for a long termer?

I'd still go even though you're under 30 - we were both 27 when we went to the GP having been TTC for a year. They offered us the standard tests while telling us we'd probably be fine as we were young, but that has found out for us that things are not right and we cannot conceive on our own.

I agree you should definitely go, especially with all these funding cuts that might happen to the NHS in the next couple of years, it's far better to be in the system already. I am only 25 but didn't have a problem being referred after 6 months TTC because of my lack of periods, but I'm sure they will listen to you as it's been pretty much a year. I know its a big step, but you will feel better for it. xxx

a year is plenty time if you have been having regular cycles and plenty sex around the fertile window. good luck. ay my first appointment they arranegd full blood work up and a SA for hubby.

Thanks everyone, you have made me feel good after a pretty bad day. Guna defo go to docs on weds and have a good chat with him coz i really dont want to leave it any longer.
