We're planning for dh to take a couple of months off after I return to work, as we can only really afford for me to 6 months off as I both earn more and have lower travel expenses.

But I'm a bit confused as dh's work has said that I can't take annual leave while he's off. There's a (possibly badly worded) sheet from HMRC I found online that seems to imply that I wouldn't be able to take any annual leave or have time off sick - - but that can't be right, surely? Other websites say that as long as you've actually physically returned to work for at least one day its fine to take annual leave after that.

Anyone know for sure? One of the points of doing this is so we can have our first Christmas as a family with the three of us together as dh works in retail and normally works long hours in the run up to Christmas and then the sales.
