sex during first trimester

Is it safe to have sex during first trimester?
I was also told by doctor that it is not safe and if we do IT we should not do it deep...is it true?

Sex is fine, as long as it's not too deep, because it may hurt if it is.

Ive spotted a couple of times after sex, if its too deep. But keep it shallow, and you will be fine
