Sentimental Tatoo help please

Right when Hope was first born i had hopes name and date of birth donr on my back, but now im not happy with it as it looks rubbish, its just like normal handwriting if you get me. I want to get it redone and have even drawn a design i want but i think its too small to do over without it looking naff, so my debate is do i get the original covered over and have to completely redone some where else or give it a go and take a risk of it not working. I feel aweful for even thinking bout covering the other one up as its very personal but at the same time i want it to look lovely coz its for my baby girl. Please i need some advise

The tattoo artist should be able to advise you if your cover up will work or not.

Couldn't you have something done around what you have already thats more extravagant, that way you wouldn't have to loose the original sentiment?

tattoo people are usually quite honest about whether something will work or if it can be done, i know people who've gone in with designs and been told it looks crap, i took mine in and the guy changed it a bit to make it fit more around my foot.

I've had a cover-up done, one guy told me it was impossible to cover it, another guy took one look and went "yeah ok i can do...... when u want it" i let him do it and i love my tattoo now.

Sorry you feel that way about your tattoo.

Theres a few people on here that are good at drawling designs mabey you could post a pic up and they we can see what we can do to make it nicer? As someone else said mabey extend it a bit more and have some things put around it butterflys/stars/hearts/dragonflys.
