after ive caught with this one,i want to be sterelised,i like the idea of having a section and being sterelised at the same time, rather than having a vaginal delivery and then being imobilised after due to a sterelisation due to not being able to lift etc,has anyone done this and how did they approach the m/w doctor etc.im determined to get it and think that from the start of my pregnancy from seeing the doctor i need to mention it everytime to drum it in to them :?

hi hunny :D

dont want to put a downer on you hun but my sister ( the oldest one shes 29) she has 2 kids and has had 3 M/C and after she gave birth to jordyn she wanted to be sterolised and the refused to do it. They said she was too young and it was more of a risk to do a woman than to do a man.

I dont know all the details but they mentiond something about it could cause internal problems in later life, not sure if they were just trying to scare her or just put her off but in the end they still refused to do it because she was only 29.

I really hope you get ithun if its what you really want, i would love to be done as i hate taking the pill :puke: but still trying to get OH to get done

this will be my 4th so really hoping, contraception really doesnt agree with me,ive put on 6 stone in 6 years and that wasnt getting pregnant as i lost it each time.and its a waste of time dh having it done as he will really make me stew and play on it,besides the fact he suffers really badly with his nerves.men eh

I really dont think you will get it to happen hun. My cousin just had her 6th baby at the age of 24 and they wont do her! The doctors say she will regret it (after 6 kids!!!!) and they wont consider her until she is in her 30's.

yeah they might refuse you for being to young. my friend at work is 24 6kids to 6different men and they wont sterilze her!!!!!!

im going to try and push it,i'll be 26 pprobably near 27  and ive been married for 8 years now so im hoping they can see i seriously dont want anymore

my mum said she didnt want any more she was 30 with 4 children my dad got the snip, then when my mum was 39 she got a BFP  YES IT WAS MY DADS TOO. AND SHE SAYS IT WAS THE BEST THING HAVING A BREAK THEN HAVING ONE WHEN SHE WAS OLDER.

BUT I NO WHAT YOU MEAN I DONT WANT ANY MORE IM SOOO BROODY BUT ONLY WANT 2 BABIES

Have your other births been C-sections? My friend is 29, on her 3rd pregnancy, and will have her 3rd C-section and sterilisation at the same time.

She had no objections to her decision as more than 3 sections carry their own risks anyway.

I was sterilised during my last section (3 sections with scars all over and a rupture - my uterus couldn't handle any more). Unless it's an emergancy they won't do them at the same time (they gave me the option of sterlisation or hysterectomy on the table) as there's a big chance it won't work. After 8 months, I'm still waiting for the all clear and may end up going back in anyway. I wanted to get sterilised after my rupture with Charlotte but they refused point blank because I was under 30, even though they advised me not to get caught again.

Tubal ligation on it's own is minor surgery these days - think it's an overnight stay, but you're not out of action like with a c-section.
