Hi Girls,

I just wanted to check if any of you are having problems keeping your pregnancy a secret from people. I am trying really hard bur a couple of people in work have guessed and I've just laughed it off!

Any advice or how to put them off the scent??

I am only very recently preg and have decided to keep it quiet at least until I've been to the docs next week, any prob 12 weeks. Hubby has almost let it slip to his Mum already!!! Boys!!! Would be v keen to speak to my sisters about how I feel but want to tell the whole family at the same time :-)

Hi hun, congrats :) and i was absoloutly rubbish at keeping it a secret, i only got to 6 weeks before telling my mum and OH's mum!!

I sucked at keepinng mine a secret! My OH told before I did and then it just reached everyone on the grapevine, we work for the same company and they're all a bunch of gossips! :D

xx

well my husband knew straight after i took the test and i had to tell work at about 6 weeks because i had such terrible morning sickness, they had all guessed anyway! My parents and family in law were told around the same time and about a week later it was on facebook...because my husband decided he couldnt keep it a secret any longer.

We initially were going to wait until 12 weeks, but its our first baby, we are really excited and decided to just think positive!

Hey, I only got a bfp last saturday, and am struggling badly, lol!

Im going into work tomorrow and will have to tell them straight away - im a police officer, so I will get taken out of uniform and put in an office straight away, so EVERYONE will know! My dad also works with me, but in a diff station, so will have to tell him, before someone else from work does!

Not ideal, but hey ho! Would be lovely to keep it a secret untill 12 weeks - will try with hubbys parents and rest of my family..
xxx

Have to admit, coming on here helps, LOL.
We did share it with our parents and a couple who are our best friends, as if anything had of happened within the first 12 weeks, we would have wanted their support.
Have to admit i felt so rough and tired, I kind of hind away a little from other friends and family. Luckily we run our own business, so didn't have to worry about who i work with.

aawww, congratulations hun! i was a nightmare! as soon as i knew i wanted to tell the world lol. i told one or two very close friends but managed to keep it secret from family until we had the first scan and it was a case of "hey, look what we've just had done" lol. good luck with keeping it a secret. :-) xx

I told work as soon as I found out, and at that point I was only 3 weeks! And told a few pals but it went public today! X

I waited until 12 weeks till i told work as I had only started the job when i was 6 weeks. I told a few people like my family and a few friends (as i was at uni) when i found out just so i could have some support. I have no idea who doesn''t know but im thinking of putting my scan pic up on fb after my 16 weeks midwife appt. Good luck it's very hard to keep news as exciting as this secret :)

My OH new that night when i found out and his sister and my Best friend were the 1st 2 to know as they were there when i found out. My sister was next as i needed advice on telling my parents and my OH's mum was next family/friend to know and she was great about it and helped my OH tell his dad as they were all going to go mad! We told my parents and his dad at the same time. The next Day I told work Because of my really bad pains and because i work in a nursery i didn't want them to worry and send me home even tho it was only MS. They took it really well and have helped me loads and everyone is really supportive!

Hi - what a good thread!

I only got my :bfp: today and I'm already bursting to tell people.

I wanted to tell my parents and hubbies parents as soon as I'd been to the doctors (and I've managed to get an appointment next Tuesday) as we would want them to know even if anything went wrong. However, my hubbies parents live in Yorkshire and they are staying with us this week. They go home on Saturday and we've always said that we want to tell them face to face. Since we won't be seeing them for a few weeks now, hubbie is desperate to tell them before they go home so I think we will be telling them tomorrow night!

I couldn't bear the thought of my parents having to wait longer to find out so I think we will probably tell them on Sunday when we see them!

We are just going to have to make them promise not to start telling other people yet.

Want to try and wait until after the scan but I gather that this might not be until 15 weeks which is a) a long wait and b) by which time I will probably be showing.

Also likely that people at work will start noticing about me suddenly switching to decaff tea etc so will just have to see how it goes I guess!

Jodie x

I found it hard - by best friend knew and my parents has mum guessed and some of work with the midwife and being off sick - but OHs family didnt know until last nite - feels great that its all out in the open and no more worrying if people guess - iam glad that we waited till after the 12 week scan - but thing thats more because of my previous miscarriage X
