hi all, i was just wondering if any of you could giv me info on your second or more births as this will be my second and im trying to psych myself up for it (if ya get me!) i am worried that because i was induced the first time round my labour will be much longer this time or will it be the same. i am scared of the epidural and didnt have it last time and hopefully wont be having it this time unless c-section is required ( its not). so if any of yo9u are willing to share your birth stories please do but please dont scare me to death like my sister in law (who apparently had the worst labour ever i the world etc). i am really annoyed because a couple of days ago i wasnt really bothered about labour but after speaking to her she made labour the second or more time round sound 10 times worse   . thanks everyone sorry post is long.

Hi Kim

Well i am pregnant with Number 4  lol

Anyway i was induced with my 1st (son) and had a awful time, every drug going, spinal block was nearly given a C-section was my worst nightmare and put me off baby's for 5 years i can tell you, then i became pregnant with my Daughter (no 2) and i went 4 days late with her and it all started naturally (i was so scared of being induced too) and was a very quick and easy birth, totally different from number one, i was in labour for nearly 4 hours start to finsh, and i managed with just water and gas and air, it was painful all births are but i can say i enjoyed that birth and wondered why i had worried myself so much in the lead up to it, but when you are induced first time round and have a bad time i think it's natural to be so worried.

My 3rd (son) who will be 2 in June was a longer labour, i was 11 days late with him, was given a sweep at 9 days over due which worked withing 48 hours , i had a really long 1st part of labour which went on for about 20 hours slight pain but nothing major hubby and i even went to the harvester for a meal about 5pm thats day ( got a few looks i can tell you and the best one was a waitress said ohhh you can't have long to go when is baby due i said 10 days ago and i am in early labour now..... she didn't know where to put herself :rotfl: Anyway it was not till about 9pm ish that night the pains really kicked in so made my way to the MW unit and had the same sort of birth as my daughter just water and gas and air and he was born at 2.05 am so just over 4 hours in proper labour.

If anything i found number 2 the quickest least painful birth of the lot of them ....100 times nicer than the 1st

So please don't worry about your next birth, it will be different from your first and im sure you wont need to be induced if you go over have a sweep if you are offered one they worked for me and can help you not have to be induced any other questions if you want to ask me anything just ask away

Even though i am pregnant with baby 4 a surprise i am still worried over the birth, i think you wouldn't be human if you didn't.... im just hoping for a nautral started labour again and just gas and air and water as my pain relief and i will deal with the pain when i have too !!! :D

hi, i was just worried it was goin to be horrible this time cus i really enjoyed my labour last time, even tho i was induced it was 5 hours and although got a bit panicky towards the end all i used was pethidine and gas and air. i think my sister in law is just jealous because i always say that my first labour wasnt to stressful, yeah it hurt but it didnt put me off for life so that good lol. thanks for your comments its really helped and if u are on number 4 it cant be that bad surely lol. one question are the after pains as bad with your second as everyone is telling me cus i didnt really feel any after pains with my DD. xxxxx

I didn't really have any after pains with my 1st either , i can remember a few with my second but they are nothing to giving birth you wont even notice them, i was told by the MW's at the birthing unit number 2 is quick and number 3 messes about which is did couldn't make his mind up for 20 hrs if to come or not and number 4 is very quick so fingers crossed..... No your right as i am on number 4 can't be that bad i think you forget the pain of birth when you hold your baby it suddenly get's blocked out and it's not till you go into labour again it all comes back and you think why am i doing this again!! But it is so worth all the pain :D

hi thanks hun u have really put my mind at rest. i cant wait to have my little girl in my arms so goin to try put everythin at back of mind now until the time comes lol. thanks again. xxxxxx

No problem at all glad i could help, and that is what i am doing to, deal with it when it comes and the joy of holding our little one at the end of it all :cheer: xxx

Hi
I'm pregnant with number 3 and am absolutly terrified!!
My first was a horrible labour, being left alone they sent my husband home and left me through the night without him. I had pethadine which didnt work, wasnt monitored at all, pushed for 4 hours before having to have a spinal block and she was delivered by forceps in the end. The whole thing lasted 36 hours.

However with Rachael, i started getting irregular pains at 12pm, i carried on the day as normal til 8pm when they became regular and closer, by 9 they were bad. 11pm we phoned the hospital and arrived there at midnight. I was monitored, they broke my waters, i had no pain releif and she was born at 1.20am!! We had just about made it in time but i felt more in control, it was shorter and a lot less traumatic.
