Second midwife appt this morning

Hiya girls, just wondering what to expect at my 2nd midwife appt. Even though we could see the heart beat at my last scan I asked to hear it and the woman said they don't do it anymore at scans and it's the midwife that let's me hear it now. Will I get to hear it at this appt?

Where I live the midwife appointments are few and far between!!! I had one at 8 weeks and my next one is this coming Friday when I will be 23+6!!!!

I think this is because we have a nuchal scan at 12 weeks here, therefore cutting out the need for the 16 week quadruple blood test and subsequent appointment with a midwife.

Ah okay, thanks for replying . I was quite lucky I had a early dating scan at 10 weeks then my 12 week scan when I was 13 weeks . Had my first midwife appt early Jan and now got my 2nd.

Would love to hear babas heart beat today!! Xx

I never got to hear the heartbeat at my 16 week midwife appointment. She didn't even ask if I would like too but I think everywhere is different, so you might get too.

I only had a booking in appt, 12 week scan and 26 week MW appt too

Yeah Miss I do feel good about the care we're getting and that we got to see baba twice!! Was amazing to see how much our wee baba has grown. Just feel like I've got ages until the 20 week scan! I can't wait to get the date through for it . The midwife at my first appt was just the one the hospital who was giving me my notes and stuff, the one today will be my official midwife who I'll see at my doctors building. Hope shes nice! x x

hope you do get a nice midwife in my area you a mw appointment at 8-12 weeks and another at around 16weeks, so i have to wait for mine till 24th my midwife is loverly and she said at the booking appointment that we'd try and hear the heart beat at 16weeks! cant wait! hope you get too

I had a 10 weeks booking app, then my 12 week scan, then my 16 week MW app, then 20 week scan. I have Midwife next Tues for my 22 week check and then I have to go every 4 weeks until 34 weeks and then every 2 weeks until baby arrives!! Thats not even including my 28 week Anti-D injection at the hospital!! My MW said 1st pregnancies are always looked after more. Just goes to show how different the system is everywhere!!

At my 16 week app we heard the heart beat after she felt my belly. It was lovely, i'm hoping we hear it at each app now! x

Thanks , it did go well, but she didn't try and find the heartbeat, she says its too early for things like that and i have to book an appointment for 8 weeks time with my GP who will let me hear the heartbeat and stuff. 8 WEEKS!! i think the reason she didn't try to hear the heart beat is incase things are still small she might have not been able to find it and thought that would make me worry. Though i've seen the heartbeat twice, last time being Monday last week at my scan. Ah wells.

I may buy a hand held one for myself , all n all the midwife was lovely though! x x
