Hi all thought I'd post the saga of Rowans arrival into the world along with some pics of my miracle.
As you all know I had a sweep on tuesday at which time I was already 3cm dilated, then had another on thursday by which time was 4-5cm dilated and fully effaced. Was up all thursday night with contractions but they had no real pattern and were mostly centered in my back. On friday at about 1pm I saw the consultant who did yet another sweep and assured me I'd have my miracle that weekend. We went home and played monopoly (lol I lost) and eventually went to bed at around 11pm. I was woken every 15-30 mins with contractions but after the previous night was convinced it was yet another false start. At 4am started to get upset ans went to bathroom where I had so much blood was convinced I had lost him and started to get really distressed. The hubby phoned labour ward and they said to come over straight away. By the time I got there was contracting regularly every 5mins and was 7cm dilated. From there on things went pretty well although I did get very paniced so they gave me pethadine to calm me down. By this time all my pain was in my back but I managed to get to 9cm without even gas and air, in fact was walking up and down and giving a running commentry about how bad the pains were "geesh this is a bad one, getting stronger...etc"
Eventually reached 10cm by 12pm and then for some bizarre reason contractions started to slow so they put me on a drip to speed things up. Then things got interesting, Rowan was back to back so there started 3 hours of pushing
Never ever will I use the words PUSH, STING & BURN lightly again
. If I had a pound for every time I'd screamed "I cant do this" I'd be able to solve third world debt, but at 3.16pm I proved I could do it and as I was in stirrups I looked down and watched as my son entered the world face up, god he was ugly! but in my eyes it was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen. Unlike my daughter he cried immediately and he was delivered onto my chest where I just kept kissing him and sobbing over him. He is beautiful and was worth every single bit of pain we have experienced not just through the pregnancy and labour but over the last 7 years.
He truly is my miracle!
