when did all your babies roll over?
christopher still cant do it :( and its getting so im dreading going to the hv as every time we go she says is he rolling over? is he sitting up? etc etc and im no no no then have to sit there and listen to her telling me how he needs more floor time  then i tell her how he spends practically all day on the floor and i can just see it in her eyes she doesnt believe me :(
he moves all round the floor on his back and his sides turns right round in a circle pushes himself with his feet he can get onto his side but cant quite get right over if i push him over that last bit he then lies there getting frustrated as he cant get about on his tummy keeps sticking his bum in the air and sliding back down lol then he gets really grumpy and starts crying till i turn him back over to his back
any suggestions for getting him to roll over?????
xxxxxxxxxx

My first rolled over at 12 weeks but couldn't sit up till he was almost 9 months!

My second rolled at about 14 weeks.

It really sounds a silly thing to say, but they relly do all go at their own pace and no amount of encouraging can change that! Im trying to get my 13 month old to walk but I can tell he is gonna be ages yet.

Nathan started rolling round the room really early at about 3 months but thats still how he gets around now. He still doesn't sit on his own, he can but he just won't. Jessica didn't first roll till she was 28 weeks but thats also when she started sitting. They are just so didfferent!

thank goodness for your post Rach! Ben isn't rolling yet and i've just come back from seeing HV she assumed that Ben could roll and when I said he couldn't she said what was I doing about it, I need to encourage him etc etc. I do try but he just can't do it!!!!!!!!!

thanks everyone
my hv has been on at me since christopher was 5 months minnie mouse :( shes making me feel paranoid about his development
think next time i see her if she goes on again im going to tell her straight
xxxxxxxxx

Every baby is different hun, and don't let your HV make you feel as if you're doing anything wrong, she of all people should know babies develop at different rates, she's there to support you not criticise.

Austin rolled from front to back at 16 weeks and back to front at 20 weeks. I've got a friend with a little girl who's about 22 months now, she rolled over at 7 months, sat up at 9 months, crawled at 10 months and walked at 16 months. She's a really happy little girl now, and keeps up with all the other kids at her nursery.

Some babies are more laid back and learn to move later, there's nothing to worry about. By the time he's 2 he'll have caught up.

And in the mean time enjoy him not being able to move! Austin started commando crawling at 23 weeks and is a little monkey now, I can't take my eyers off him for one minute without him chasing the cat, or tipping over the bin, or unplugging the phone  :D It was so much easier before he could move!

melissa rolled from back to tummy at around 2 months, but still hasnt rolled from tummy to back :?

Freya can roll tummy to back, but no amount of coaxing is getting her to do the other way, have even tried showing her how it is done and bribing her with a dummy. I'm not the best at laying her on her back because she doesnt like it, but me thinks they will all get there at some point!!!

DD rolled a day before she turned 6 months, DS hasn't rolled from back to front yet. He doesn't even try to, even though he gets lots of floor time. I guess they're all different and do it when they're ready, he's just a bit slower than other babies (he was nearly 4 weeks early so I think that might be why he's a bit later doing things).

Hayden started rolling at 3 months, his lazy like his daddy

These HV's are shocking
How dare they say things like that  :x
Your LO will roll when he blooming well wants to, and until then I think it's great he's such a great Mummy who knows this   Don't feel bad when you say no to the questions, just know your little boy is happy and well and rolling isn't that interesting at the moment :)

Lydia was quite late with rolling over, but then again we never gave her much tummy time because she hated it.

But who cares? At the end of the day, your child is not going to reach school age and be unable to roll over ;) lol

Ani isnt rollng yet, but will when she is ready - as you all say, she obviously cant see the interest in rolling as yet! Dribbling and grabbing my hair is her main study at the mo.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

thanks everyone  stuff the HV and her questions im feeling much better about all this now xxxxxxx

luke didn't do it til he was 6 months or so. he'll get there rach no worries.

Jake was 5 1/2 months and he rolled from back to front first. I wouldn't start worrying yet as i'm sure Christopher will get the hang of it soon enough. I used to put a toy just out of reach and Jake used to try rolling to get it.
