With 5 weeks to go, I've been sorting out all the clothing, bedding, crib, car seat, pram etc for this baby, and I've realised that 90% of it was my daughters - luckily this baby is a girl too!

A friend of mine said she'd not kept a single thing from her first child and she's starting from scratch - she wants everything new!

I've bought a few new sleepsuits and a new blanket, am I being stingy reusing everything or is it normal?!

Totally normal. Especially if you have a budget to worry about. Though we knew we were having a boy last time we bought our large items like our crib and travel cot and buggy in neutral colours with a second child in mind.

When we find out the sex of this one at the beginning of December, all Ds's clothes are coming down from the loft with the Xmas decorations to be sorted for either re-use or to be sold to fund buying some more girly bits if it turns out were having a girl etc.

We might buy new bottles as they'd be nearly two years old by April 2018 but we'll check that later.

Even if I was loaded I'd still reuse as I think it's just wasteful otherwise.

Like you, I've bought a few bits of clothes (mostly sale stuff!) and want a new outfit for him to come home in but other than that he will be in my LBs stuff, I think it's quite nice really. Other than that we just need new mattresses and bottles, possibly a playmat as the old one is a bit battered! Each to their own of course so do what you feel is right for you x

My little boy is only 5 months but I am keeping all his things in case we have another. A lot of his clothes I think would be ok for a girl too. I can't imagine chucking them out after they have had such little wear compared to my clothes. I guess I could sell them on then re buy if needed but I like the idea of seeing some of the tiny things again and remembering them the first time around.

Your doing your bit for the environment hun- if that makes you feel any better! Lol. We are reusing EVERYTHING as we are having another boy and we will enjoy dressing him in his big brother clothes and reminiscing about when he was a baby too!
I got all our things from the loft and Im amazing at how new most of the clothes/blankets, snuzpod, toys and other items look and feel. As other posters have said- they really aren't in the newborn up to about 6mt stuff for long anyway.
I don't think its being tight as there will be things yoy want new or whatever and you will be in a better financial position to do that due to reusing what you have. Also it can enable you to maybe do somethings you maybe couldn't tje first time like book a block of groups (swimming or baby sensory) if you wanted as you haven't had to shell out for bigger expensive items.
We are reusing car seats (first stage then when our older boy is 4 we will get him a new seat and the baby will have his current seat).
Don't let other peoples frivolity make you feel shit. You are doing the right thing! Xxxx

Totally normal! My son was 21 months when my youngest son was born. I've reused the next to me crib, bedding, clothes, car seat, pram, jumperoo, bouncer etc. My baby will get a new cot as I'm keeping my son in his and will convert it to a toddler bed next year. He's had quite a lot of new clothes still as he's a completely different build to my eldest, he was in slim fitting pants whereas my youngest is a lot chunkier so a lot of trousers are too tight on the waist and he needs wider legs. Personally I think it's crazy not to reuse stuff that's in good condition. Throwing away and starting again is a huge waste and imo x

God we've barely bought a thing this time around! definitely reusing lots of things- seems so wasteful to not! Xx

Totally normal! We've kept everything from DD and actually bought a lot of neutral stuff for her knowing wed have a second so in every size she has girly stuff and neutral stuff so at least some can be reused no matter what this baby is. Same with the pram/swing/sleep bags/bedding we made sure it was all.neutral so second can use it. Like others said its less wasteful and the amount of time some of the items got used last time most of it is still like new! I've got all dd's clothes in vac bags ready to sort once we know the gender, can't wait! X

I don't think you're being stingy. We've already sorted DSs clothes into 'boys clothes' and 'gender neutral' so that once we know the gender we'll know whether we are getting everything out or just the gender neutral stuff. We didn't keep everything from DS but a hell of a lot! This one will have a mix of DSs clothes and new stuff (purely because I can't resist buying cute things!..... I think I have a problem... I might be a shopaholic!)

My sis in law has given me some items and it's my first baby!

We are family so I dont see any issues with it.

This is totally normal & nothing to feel bad about, When i had my son we had to start again from scratch because i had an 18 year age gap between my 1st & 2nd child, Now i`am pregnant with my third baby i will be re using what i already have too, I dont know the sex yet so if i`am having a girl i will have no choice in replacing the clothes but some of them i might be able to get away with X

A lot of my daughters stuff was neutral anyway (even though we knew she as a girl) with the idea of using it again if we had another. You end up spending so much the first time round, it seems mad to me to not get as much use out of it as possible! I'd sorted her clothes out into girlie or neutral, with the idea that if this was a boy I'd sell it or give it away, as it's a girl I'm happy to use it again.

First time I bought stuff because I liked it, so I'm happy I get to use it again.

Totally normal. We have kept everything. If we have another girl we are sorted for clothea and toys. Little baby and toddler won't reall care that they are wearing 2nd hand clothes xx
