Hi,

Recently I feel like my worst pms symptoms (cramping being the worst) have been dragged out over days whereas they used to last just a day or two at worst. I also spot before my periods every month now, which is another thing I never had before. I’ve been to the doctors and I’ve had some tests but as they came back ok they can’t tell me why this happens. I’m convinced I have a hormonal imbalance and I’ve been looking at ways to change this naturally. I’ve also been looking up how to reduce the pms symptoms and one of the suggestions was regarding vitamins - I’m currently taking seven seas trying for a baby vitamins but have only been on these particular ones for a month now. However, I’ve read that you should get enough omega 3 - I don’t eat any fish at all so probably lack this in my diet. Does anyone know if it is safe to take an omega 3 supplement while ttc? I wish I could speak to a specialist who would advise me but I have no idea who to go to! Thanks x

They ran an article on the news here (in Aus) recommending people take omega-3 whilst TTC and in pregnancy. It’s really good for developing baby’s brain apparently :)

Just remember all vitamins have a safe limit and can make you sick if you go over it. Look up what your omega 3 limit is and make sure the pregnancy vitamin + omega 3 won’t exceed it. I’m pretty sure the limit for omega 3 is insanely high so I doubt you’d exceed it taking both, but you should double check anyway!

@Peony1 - not sure if this is much help to you but when I was taking seven seas vitamins trying for a baby they really messed up my cycles. X

Thank you @WinterWolf xx
Does anyone have any ideas on how I find out what the safe limit is though?

@chattychar1990 thanks, I have heard they can do that. I was on pregnacare when the spotting started and thought they might be causing that so stopped them. I went back to basics for months and months and just had folic acid and vitamin d, yet nothing changed. I’ve only been on seven seas for a month so far so I can’t tell yet if they’ve messed up anything! What changed for you? X

Apparently there is no official upper limit but doctors say to stick to less than 1000mg/day x

I have also heard that pregnacare can start spotting, very bizarre that it’s still happening though now you have changed vitamins.
Seven seas seem to have made my cycles really long. X

@chattychar1990 It is a bit too much of a coincidence for it not to be the vitamins that are affecting people’s cycles when you read all the reviews of both pregnacare and seven seas as a lot of people have had that happen to them. But it was weird that the spotting continued even after I stopped them, so maybe the spotting starting for me was a coincidence! I dunno, all things ttc mess with my brain  Well I’ve only been taking seven seas for one month so it’s probably a bit soon to tell if they’ve changed anything yet. This month was a 26 day cycle so its definitely not effected it that way yet! Which vitamins do you take now? Xx

I take omega 3 along with pregnacare conception. Out of 4 pregnancies the only one I’ve had that stuck I was taking the pregnacare that comes with a seperate omega 3 in the box. Decided it couldn’t hurt to take it again x

I've heard of quite of few people who found the Seven Seas vits messed up their cycles. I try and get all my nutrition from diet so I'd concentrate on eating lots of unprocessed food, and check out the recommended fish portions for people TTC or pregnant. Definitely avoid greasy food and junk food in the two week weight too.

I didn’t know they did that..I’ll have to look into that xx

My problem is I that I just can’t stomach fish, so I’d need to take a supplement. As long as it doesn’t do any harm, then I’d be happy to do that! I have changed my diet a lot and cut out on the unprocessed foods etc. So far, it has improved my skin as I don’t get the horrendous acne that I used to get every month and I’ve lost a few pounds (I’m a healthy bmi anyway). I was hoping it would help balance hormones but I’m not sure it has yet xx

Oh don’t I know it. My head is completely frazzled from all things TTC.
I take folic acid with vit d. Then EPO up until ovulation and also vit E.
If I don’t get my bfp this cycle I am going to drop the vit E though and maybe try Maca pills. My OH has Maca powder in he’s protein shake every day (helps with sperm) xx

How strange, I already have a tab open on my iPad with ‘maca fertility’ Googled, reminding me to read up on that!! I think I might carry on with the seven seas for now as I have two more packets left...unless they start messing up my cycles before that time then I’ll stop. I just wish there was someone that the nhs would recommend, even if you had to pay, who could help advise us on all this! X

I found a board on google of loads of ladies that started taking Maca pills and they got pregnant very quickly. I know it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to work for me, Everyone is different! But I’ll try anything lol.
I would stick the Seven seas out definitely if they aren’t messing with your cycles.
How amazing would that be, every lady gets given a list of supplements to take that will 100% get Them pregnant. (That would be too easy though right *sigh*) x
