Hello,

I am new to this forum and I want to start monitoring my cycle a bit more closely. I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend a good brand/where to get from? I'm presuming amazon is a cheaper option than the supermarket?

When do you then to monitor - all month or just mid-cycle? I have years of period tracker data with predicted ovulation/fertile window etc, but I think I felt ovulation two days prior to when it was predicted in my current cycle so I want to see what's going on.

Hiya

I use these ones:

https://homehealth-uk.com/product-c...ulation-test-kits/strips/wide-strips/20miuml/

These 20miu ones have always been reliable for me. I test twice a day (every day) up to ovulation then once a day after that until period starts (mainly because I like to see the pattern and progression each month).

I also chart so take my temp every morning as this backs up what the OPKs have told me. I bought this thermometer - https://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/basal-digital-thermometer-fahrenheit/ - and I use the Fertility Friend app/website to enter all the data as it shows on the chart when I ovulated etc (it's not always when you expect it to be based on the OPKs - the temperatures give a better indication usually a day or two either side).

Hope that helps :)

Good luck!

Thank you for your help! With checking your temp, do you have to do it at the same time of day or just as long as it's before you get up? On days when I work that's 05:30 so I don't want to be doing it at that time on days off!

Gosh - you must get through a lot of strips then! Once you have ovulated, don't the strips just display nothing though and therefore a waste? Sorry, very new to all this!

Also - I am assuming most apps want BBT in fahrenheit as they are american so I guess don't bother with a celsius one then!

I try and take my temp the same time every day but it's always later at weekends and still pretty reliable. The only time it's not been is when I had tonsillitis a couple of weeks ago so I just told the app to discard those temps (they were 101 degrees!!).

I usually buy 100 strips at a time, haha!

My progression is below. I always get a really dark one just before AF too so I'm kinda glad I keep testing and know it does this otherwise I'd think I was ovulating again! Some people say that their OPKS get darker if they're preg too but I know mine get darker just before AF anyway so not to get my hopes up. This is the current cycle so not got to AF yet (due in a couple of days)

You almost always get two lines on OPKS but it's only positive when the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line.

On the Fertility Friend app you can have it set to F or C but F seems to be more precise and shows up on the graph better I find :)

I get cheap ones on Amazon and test mid cycle from day 11 til the pos. My sleep is all over the place so I take my temp whenever I wake up in the night...there is still a clear pattern. I also track CM.

Thank you for your reply - I find I don't always get email notification of replies on this forum :shakehead:
