My boy has had the rotavirus for nearly 2 weeks this coming Friday.
Hes had really bad diarreoah for this whole time, literally about 5 times a day, 6/7 on a bad day!

He hasn't eaten any food, only odd nibble here and there, although had his bottles as usual.

This evening I offered him food as usual and he ate it all!
Great. so I thought.
Cue 2 hours later,
projectile vomiting x4 everything plus more came up.

he hasn't been weighed since beginning/mid dec when he was 16 1/2 pounds.
Twice ive been to see a doctor in the past 2 weeks also, no one weighed him.

So I stuck him on my scales this evening (which has been accurate in the past)

15lbs! .. =( Im now beyond worried. Ive called NHS direct and waiting for a call back. I noticed yesterday he had lost a little weight (hes slim anyway)
but not this much, considering it the end of Jan he was probably on the 17/18lb mark.

No advice sorry hun but wanted to send you massive hug. It's so horrible them being unwell and for that long it must be so so draining. No wonder your panicking. Let us know what NHS 24 say when they call back. Really.hope he's better soon poor mite x

Hope he gets better soon! My lg looses weight quite quickly when she's ill but don't worry it creeps back on fairly quickly once they are back to their normal selves! Xx

Thank you. Just seems so much to loose in a week and half. Nhs said it could be early symptoms of sceptecemia?.. I cant even spell it. although she didn't want to worry me!

Out of hours now called and waiting.. urgh. x

Didn't want to worry you?? If she honestly thinks that's a possibility they should be sending an ambulance, stupid woman. X

As hard as it is, try not to worry. My baba ate nothing and puked most of her fluids up for 2 weeks in hospital with pneumonia last year. It was heartbreaking watching the weight come off her. She bounced back unbelievably quick though and was like the hungry caterpillar for a month afterwards. Babies are more resilient than they look. Xxx

I wish a bloomin doctor would listen to me though! .. they just keep sending me home saying hes not dehydrated.
Yes ok. not yet.. but this isn't normal! anyway. Will update when I know more.

Thank you Flisstebs

Husband is working so have no transport. But I don't see it as A and E emergency as hes ok in himself.

Had call back. Told not to worry, its like when we eat after we havnt in a while, it is long to have the runs but if hes having milk its fine, no point doing anything tonight. If im still worried in the morning to go to GP.

Useless!.. will try HV instead tomorrow. Hopefully hell sleep well. x

I was going to add to my post unless you feel it isn't an A&E emergency but didn't want to offend or say the wrong thing.

Would never get offended =) Thank you though. If I was worried he was suffering etc I would take him =) x

Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep and a better day tomorrow. X

I think your LO has milk allergy? What formula is he on? Only ask as my son has sickness big for about 3 days, the vomiting stopped then diarrhoea kicked in! Whilst this was all going on we ran out of his pepti 1 so used an unopened tin of his old neocate to see us through until we could see the Dr for new prescription. Picked up the milk (pepti 2) on Saturday and that night horrific runs started! We thought it was just the bug working it's way out of his system but a week later and he was still having exploda nappies and whole outfit changes 4/5 times a day. On sat I swapped him back on the the wholly hydrolysed formula and it stopped instantly!

I spoke to the dr about it on Monday and he said he would prescribe pepti 1 again as it may have been the lactose in the new milk- apparently a sickness bug can affect the lactase enzyme or something, I didn't really understand but yesterday I gave him the pepti formula and he's back to normal again. If you aren't on a lactose free completely hydrolysed formula it might be worth a shot asking for some to see if it helps?

Hope he's better soon, it's so awful when they are so poorly and you can't do anything to help xxx

What did he have to eat? My son had this for couple weeks and i found just as o thought he was better hed randomly sick up certain foods. I called for advise and was told to start back on foods really slowly and to begin with very bland foods as the tummy will have to get used to it again. Hope hes better soon x

Awww hope yes ok, no advice really but as ams said above it could be a milk allergy?

Just seen your other post that hes already on milk free, could something he be eating have something else he might be allergic to?
