I have had itchy legs for around 10 years, docs have no idea why really, its no excema, or anything like that. The only thing that has ever calmed it is regular exfoliating, moisturising makes it 10 times worse!!! I even tried Lanacane cream before I was pregnant, I had to wash it off it burned so much!!

Just over the last few days though, they have started getting much much worse, I cannot move without my skin burning with the itchyness!! I am making holes and tears in my skin from scratching, and its driving me slowly crazy!!

Is there anything you can recommend to ease the itch til I see my midwife (I'm wondering if its linked to the pregnancy, at least the worsening of the symptons)?

I know it sounds silly hun but have you tried calamine lotion this seems to work a treat on things like chicken pox & dermatitis :D
Its not my intention to freak you out but I have heard of a liver condition that can cause extreme irritation to the skin especially whilst pregnant (I don't know all the info about it tho :( ) I would have thought that if you had itchiness before being pregnant than this wouldn't be whats effecting you...
Hope everything ok tho hun & that you find something to sooth it as I know how you feel as I suffer with bad dermatitis

when i got itchy legs due to pregnancy my mw recommended aquarius cream if u cant find it in boots ask them :) have you card to hand also :)

but as you said, if you had been itchy before, it may not be related? it may be worth double checking with your gp/mw though

pop a flannel in the fridge and use when needed. always helped my itchy feet. and as enn mentioned aquarius is fantastic stuff!

Does this Aquarius stuff leave your skin feeling tacky? Like a body lotion or moisturiser does? Anything like that has made it worse in the past. The only lotion type thing I have found that works was made by King of Shaves, it was a hair minimising spray, dark green in colour, was fab, then all the shops in my area stopped selling it! It may have gone out of production, dunno.....

I haven't tried calomine to be honest, so might give that a shot, Aquarius is worth a try too, I am willing to give almost anything a go to be honest!! Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming!!

i had this really badly last month. the only thing i could to stop the itching was to wrap a cold towel around my legs! it was really awful, but gradually went away. When i told my doc about it he did some blood test just incase it was something to do with the liver, but everything was fine. i think it was just from the hormones. Hope you get better soon, and tell your midwife about it next time you see her. x
