Just a quick one for anyone having a GGT soon.

i was booked in this morning to have mine done but was refused IT as i was chewing gum and had cleaned my teeth and was told that it wouldnt give an accruate test!

I know my letter told me not to eat or drink anything from midnight the night before and ONLY have water but i didnt think something such as sugar free gum or even just cleaning your teeth that morning would mean that they couldnt test?!!

so just a warning to all before hand - dont chew gum or clean your teeth the morning of your GGT!!

what a pain and now i have to go back next wednesday

ooh thanks for this I have mine on monday morning and have booked a day off so I dont want to have to do that again!

but nastiness to have to go and do this without brushing my teeth! plus I have really sensitive teeth and dont drink any sugery drinks normally as they make my teeth hurt! so all that sugar with no pro namel = unhappy me! lol

I have been booked for my GTT January 27th (lol my mw prepared!) and on the information leaflet it actually says this, hadn't read it before,

the glocuse drink is horrible made me ill the last time but my miwife sed theyve changed it this time o lucazade apparently lol

My letter said no chewing gum, but I did clean my teeth, they didnt evern ask me if I had. Just made sure I had now eaten or drank. x

I have mine Friday so thanks for this info!

No brushing teeth? Weird!

Is everyone having one? Our pregnancy book says everyone has to, but when I spoke to a midwife today (my 4th so far...!) she said I didn't need one?

i think its for ppl with high or really low bmi as there at risk of getting it more

I cleaned my teeth before mine - you'd think everyone would?! And you'd think they'd tell you if you shouldn't! x

well in my letter, it never mentioned anything about chewing gum or brushing teeth - i only found this out when i actually got there and got refused as i had chewing gum in, so thought id pre-warn anyone!

x

I am having mine done because my dad is diabetic and I have a BMI of 28 but I had to ask them to do it because they werent going to at first!

i think its for ppl with high or really low bmi as there at risk of getting it more

and for people with a familt history of diabetes like me :)

I called about the teeth brushing and got laughed at so it is fine to brush your teeth not to chew gum though. I got there at 8.30 to be told I had to come back two hours later after drinking the minging jelly/sugar drink thing. I am starving!
