thanks to breastfeeding being the most boring activity on earth i watch losts of silly tv, especially cable...
and i kept seeing the ad for race for life! as my mum has just come out of cancer i decided i wanted to do it and would put zoë in sling to walk the 5kms. also it meant exercise for me to get fit again
anyway, when you enrol you apparently have to put in your baby as a separate person so you have to pay fees for them too, an extra 10 quid :shock: !!

am i just being really mean or is 20 pounds for a mum with small child in sling (so obviously not raising money) ridiculous?!?!

some of my mates with baby wanted to do it too but we've decided it's a silly rule so are considering walking with other mums and raising money hat way. or otherwise just sponsoring other people

we should complain to race for life :lol: :lol:

it is alot of money for a baby which is not walking and getting carried by you, but its their way of making money for their charity isnt it, if they didn't do things like that they would't make alot of money really, cos it cost alot of money to put these things out, e.g water and toilet facilities and things like that, but its up to you hun if you do it or not.

I think thats a bit too much personally but I have had a bad experience with them so I am biased. I did the race for life thing 2 years ago, the other week I got a phonecall from cancer research and had the most patronising woman ever telling me I should give £4 a month, as otherwise more families would suffer and how would that make me feel? Stupid bint, she had no idea what she was going on about. Anyhow, I think the race is a great idea but to make you pay £10 for a baby is daft. I could understand if it was a child who would be walking around but a baby! They tend to get the place at a very discounted rate, there is a load of sponsership and they do make enough money without having to charge people for taking their baby with them.

I'm taking Jayden in a sling on 21st May at RAF Lyneham, you don't pay for baby as an extra person if it's in a sling, i't only if they are walking. My mum died of cancer and so I wanted to take Jayden so she can be part of something for the nan she has never and will never meet, she'll sleep no doubt.
xxxxxxxxxx

lol Beanie i havent heard the word 'Bint' for ages!!!

Hi Pips, my mum's best friend is doing the race for life too, the one in Edinburgh round the radical road at Arthur's Seat. Her dad died 3mnths ago of bladder cancer, and she is having his name and my mum's on her t-shirt when doing the race.My mum had breast cancer over a year ago, done the whole chemo thing-lost every hair on her body, but she is alive to tell the tall. :dance:

A good cause but that is ridiculous for a baby. I'll babysit :wink:

latest update on the story: i've organised my own walk which is totally free (!!!!!!!!!!) and is basically the exact same thing as race for life but men are allowed, as quite a few of my male mates want to participate :D :D

i agree so many people suffer from cancer and i really wanted to do something for that cause so here goes WE ARE GOING WALKIES! :dance:

anyone want to sponsor or even come and do it with us? a few mums from my clinic may come with us too

let me know x

Yay, good one Pips. You live too far away from me otherwise I'd be there

by the way beanie and hels, my mum uses the word 'bunt' (invented when toddler) and you can imagine what that means, lol

great words!
