Hi all

I'm going to look at a nursery this week for my 18 month old, he will be there two days a week when I go back to a new job. I've been trying to think of questions to ask the nursery, so just wondering what type of questions did you ask if you have used a nursery and any tips to look out for ?

Thanks in advance

Just a few off the top if my head:

Ask about first aid training
Ask about food hygiene training
Ask about continuity of care, is it different staff members everyday or the same?
Are you expected to provide food or do they and what's the cost?
What illnesses etc are children excluded for?
Bank holidays, do they close and are you still expected to pay? X

Do they provide nappies
Is everyone crb checked before starting work
Is everyone trained before they start the job (rather than trained on the job)
How many staff to children ratio (should be one staff to every three)
Notice period to give any changes to days etc
Notice period to quit
Security
Procedure in the event of an emergency

My big ones are

Safe guarding at work
Security within setting
Ofsted reports
Development encouragement / key workers etc
Terms and conditions /inclusive or exclusive fees
Menu's if applicable

My son has been at nursery since 6 months so my needs were far more specialised as he was so young! But he's 10 month snow and loves it!
