When LO begins to engage does its body 'straighten up' ie in line with my body as opposed to lying to one side?

I just feel that his or her body is in a more symmetrical position now and i think i can feel a little bum in the centre at the top. Every time i touch it i get kicks in more symmetrical locations now, kind of at the top of my bump (were it was always in my ribs on the RHS before)

Do i make any sense or do i just sound like a mad lady?

I don't think baby does straighten up ready for delivery. The programmes I've seen on TV show baby coming out face down or face to the side, so that would seem like they are laying sideways just before being born. It's a good question though... maybe one for your next MW appt! :D

not sure but thought they just drop down further, dont think they straighten up. its usually quite uncomftable when there engaged & you have to walk like john wayne!

I don't know the answer but know what your getting at. I know my LO has dropped but sometimes feel what I think is his bottom top centre, then othertimes it's wiggled off to the left or right, I think he likes having his bottom on the left hand side as I look down just now, it's always poking out of there!! If I get a chance at antenatal tonight (and if I remember) I'll ask and report back.

Youve dropped have you nicola?well i swear my baby has rose as my bump looks higher then normal and i feel her butt right in the middle of bump now instead of low like she was

thanks for your replies but LO has got its bum on the left again with kicks in my ribs on the right again

Well I think so and can breath a little easier all of the sudden too, have a look and judge for yourself, 30 and 32 week piccies here...opinions more than welcomed, I think it's interesting to keep a watch on the bump via pictures as day to day it looks the same to me:

Its funny you ladies are all talking about positions and "dropping" today. I was just thinking that my little daughter has lost her way and is now heading for my lungs instead of out into the great big world! :rotfl:
I'm pretty sure she is facing downwards, but certainly not engaging. and I kind of want her born NOW!!!

My midwife said this morning that my little ones head has gone down.. is there a time when it's meant to or can it still move back up again? It would explain why I've been so comfortable the past few days.

My LO's head engaged last week and his/her big hard bum (takes after OH!) is right in the centre but well under my ribs now which is much more comfortable for breathing and eating - although I do feel like i have had a good kicking between my legs. This week the bump has come out more and is more central - before it was more to the RHS - although I sleep on my left side. He has been back to back the last few times the midwife has checked, but I'm not getting much backache so I don;t know whether he is always there or keeps moving around?

My baby has taken to lying transvers (sideways) so I don't get as many kicks on my tummy for DH to feel, they're all either into my back or downwards can be very uncomfortable. But I do tend to get a hand or foot stuck under my ribs on a regular occasion. Poor mw yesterday had a right job finding the heartbeat but we got there in the end although it was very muffled.
