Just a random question as I am in no position to need one soon unfortunately, but...

The ones you can hire for home- how do you keep the water warm and how do you fill them up? Do you attach a hose to the hot kitchen tap? Do they go cold quite quickly? Just wondering as I would imagine you could be in one for a while?

just wondering!...

I was wondering this too. I have looked at pools, and you do fill them by a hose to the tap, but was wondering how you keep it warm for all that time. Anyone know?

Don't think OH would let me buy one though. I still need his permission to get a homebirth.

I was just wondering because the NCT sent me a catalogue with them in- there could be nothing worse than sitting in a lukewarm pool!

It does say they make ideal paddling pools afterwards though! :rotfl:

with the ones that i have looked at... it is just a case of when the water gets cold empting so of it out and refilling it with hot water ....

even the mw said at the antenatal classes that this is how the kept the ones warm...........

I hired pools for both of my two girls birth, I got them from the Active Birth Centre, We kept topping up the hot water, its mostly important at time of delivery, it was quite nice to have it cooler during labour!

the ones i have seen on the birthing programs were filled up from the kitchen tap..
