Pumps

Hi ladies,
Have a weird question - i didnt get on with the pump last time, it was just painful and milk was barely coming out. I was using medela swing, its supposed to be a good one but hey ho.
Anyone else had this problem and any recommendations? Dont want to spend too much in case i cant use it again

I use the avent pump and its worked fine for me. I don't have a great milk supply but i got the same amount as I was getting with the hospital pump I used before xxx

Did you only try the pump in the beginning or throughout?

I have a swing and dont mind it

I've also tried the calypso (can't remember the manufacturer) that was very good too

i got the mini maedela off ebay and it was good but noisy. it takes time to get used to pumping and to get anything decent, i got barely anything at first

I have an avent pump too. Never had any problems with it.

It did take a while to get milk out though so you'll need to persevere with it x

I tried for about 8 weeks in total but then i started topping up with formula as nothing worked.
Pumping only left me in pain and i could get like 30 ml out(thats from a full boob ie if lo hasnt fed).
I dont know if its just me.
BFing didnt hurt after the initial latch correction and toughening up.
Its the vacuum in the pump that made it hurt iykwim? Maybe i couldnt get much out because of the pain?
Hand expressing was quicker for me even.
Just wondering if its worth getting another one at all

Did you have the pump up full or on a low setting?

Maybe a manual pump would be better for you ?

I started with low setting and before i tried to hand express to have the let down.
Still was a struggle tbh.
I am thinking whether it didnt suit my nipple shape as it would keep rubbing on the inside of the pump tube iykwim? Sorry for tmi.
I found it painful as with BFing it wasnt doing the same? I am probably weird

My nipple squeezes against the inside of the pump too - it seems normal I think. Maybe your nips are just more sensitive

I go through phases where its really painful to express, but most of the time I'm ok.
