Hi ladies

This probably sounds really silly but I'm a first time mum (37+1) and often find myself asking silly questions.

My lovely friends have bought me a beautiful changing bag and while tidying up in the nursery today I've thought I should start putting stuff into it, I've then realised I don't really know what. Bear in mind I'm going to be (or hoping to breast feeding)

So far I'm thinking

A bunch of nappies and some nappy cream
A 2/3 clean baby grows
A full change of clothing
Wipes
Change mat
A tube of nipple cream for me

What else can you mummies suggest?

Bottle of water for yourself :) you won't believe how thirsty you get breastfeeding. And also some breast pads and a spare tshirt for yourself. I have nappy bags in my changing bag but you don't need them as such and a muslin cloth. That's all I take (and what's on your list) and we do fine :) xxx

Nappy sacks!! Lol
Ummmm.. Uve named pretty much everything else u need hun!
Unless your FF then obv bottles etc. but otherwise ur ok!

Ooo antiseptic handwash is always handy.

Noah was a sicky baby and i used to pack a gd few muslins too xx

Thanks girls, Muslims was definitely something I should have thought of and a spare shirt for me sounds like a good idea. Thanks again

And thanks sunnysue but it was my changing bag I was looking at for day to day rather than hospital bag! Thanks thou

A spare bib - for spit ups! I got through loads a day! :)

A spare top for yourself. Just something like a cheap vest top. Cos some times milk spillage, poop and sick is not contained to just the baby!

Nappy sacks, botty cream if using. I also take hand sanitising soap and sanitising wipes for changing tables in the loos - for when the baby is a bit older and starts touching things around the changing mat x

Agree with everyone else but also a plastic/waterproof bag for any pooey clothes etc

My change bag contains as standard:
2 muslins (one in an easy access side pocket and a spare inside)
A small 'bag for life' for those unexpected bits of shopping
A couple of small toys (not necessary for a newborn)
Baby wipes (some in an easy access pocket and some with the change mat)
Scratch mits's/mittens and a hat
A spare vest and babygrow
A carrier bag and some large sandwich bags for dirty/wet clothes containment
The instructions for my pram (!)
A change mat (mine had pockets attached to it for nappies, wipes etc.)
Nappies (3-4)
A small tube of sudocrem
Nappy bags
Antibacterial hand gel
Sanitary towels/breast pads for me

This is my go to arrangement. I add more of things if I'm going out longer.

Buzz I always carry around a bag for life in my hand bag and the change bag too! Only cos we have to pay for carrier bags here.
