Have people had these and can anyone book them at the hospital that they choose to go with and how much is it???

there are lots of different types of scan, i had an oscar scan done privately, this is the combined scan and bloods for downs and other defects, i went with bupa which cost £196 and worth every penny, they were fantastic, so relaxed and helpfull and really put my mind at rest, i was also given the photos they took from the scan.
I am also going to have the 4d scan at 28 weeks again with bupa.

I've had a few now

I paid for two early ones, one was £125 at one private clinic and then the second was £85 at a different place. I googled for private scan or something and my area and you should be able to find one.

My 4D scan yesterday was at the same place as the £85 one but was obviously more.

I don't know if you can pay at your local NHS for a private early one. I don't think ours offers anything like this.

Have been looking into private scans myself - most major UK cities have somewhere you can go, either private hospitals or proper screening places. Found that costs vary - average for early (6-18 week) scans seems to be about £95 but its worth looking around. I've booked one in Leeds (leedsscreeningcentre.co.uk) for next Wednesday and they charge £70.

they vary in prices, from where u choose to get it done, and on what package you choose.

we got ours done for £190 and we got a 10 min dvd, a disc of 30 pics and 8 A4 glossy print outs of bubs. was well worth the money!! it was a 3d/4d scan and brilliant! really lovely to see his lil face and find out the sex xxxx

You need to go to a private hospital/clinic for private scans. NHS ones don't do these.

You don't need a GP referral or anything else. Simply call and book in for the scan of your choosing.

I've used Nuffield hospitals in the past for various private treatments/scans and recommended them. Payment is by invoice and to be settled within 14 days.

I just googled and found my nearest. It was £50 for a reassurance and dating scan from 6 onwards then the other prices varied for the different things. We got a free one for 10 days after the first scan as I had very enlarged ovaries and they wanted to check them to see if gone down. We then got a discount for the sexing scan at 18 weeks as had used them before.
I'm very glad I had the early scans as they really put my mind at ease.
