Hi ladies. I had my latest midwife appointment today amd my midwife as booked me in for a presentation scan next week when I will be nearly 38 weeks. Apparently she wants to double check on baby's position.

What is involved in one of these scans, and what will happen if they find that he is breech will they try to turn him.

I had a presentation scan when I was pregnant with my son.

Mw had a hand held scanner and just checked he was def head down, got a second me to confirm and that was it.

Couldn't really see much on the scan, just a white circle.

My lo was head down so don't know about what would happen if breech.

Dont quote me on this as iv never had one of those scans or a breech baby but... i had a friend that had a breech baby and she was shown ways to help try encourage baby to turn. She was also told they could try and turn baby themselves but she wasnt comfortable with that as she has heard it wasnt the most pleasent thing. They also talked about a section... Luckily baby turned for her and managed to have a natural birth.
Youtube spinning babies theres some exercises on there than can help if it turns out to be breech :) xx

They will scan you to see where baby is, if baby is breech you may see a consultant there and then or you may have to rebook. The consultant will talk you through turning the baby and an elective section. As you're 38 weeks, they may book you in for 39+ and if baby turns before then they will let you go naturally.

You do not have to have him turned and I recommend having a look online (beware there are some horror stories) before making your decision as there can be some risks.
