post natal depression

hi girls, we've had some unfortunate news over the last week, as many of you know i had a certain dislike for my sister in law when she found out she was pregnant (and i wasn't very childish i know) but she's texted me today saying that she's been to the doctor this morning and that they've diagnosed her with post natal depression, she's getting medication to take when she starts to feel down and depressed. i want to wish her the best and hopes she gets better soon.

also to any of the ladies that have already had their babies, if u feel down report it to your doctor because it can happen to any of us. SIL waited till olivia was 4 months old to get it sorted do it straight away!

My sister had this with 3 of hers and it got so bad that she walked out on them , I am with Winnie if you feel even remotely depressed see your doctor straight away.

Also people who have had depression before are at a higher risk of this so if you already were before you were pregnant then keep an extra special eye.

Thanks for this ladies. I think its so important for the possibility of having depression during and after pregnancy to be highlighted as I've heard really sad stories about it where some ladies have been too embarrassed or ashamed to simply get help while others weren't even aware they had this type of depression. Sending my best wishes and prayers to every lady going through this xxxx

thanks ladies, i had severe depression when i was younger and it's made me more aware in case i ever feel down i shouldnt be feeling like this and that there is help out there!

i had pre and post with my first and post with my second no doubt i will get it again but i plan on asking for treatment straight away its horrible not enjoying your baby or feeling like a terrible mother because u are really depressed.support is so important.
