Possibly stupid question about birth..

just someone who will support you and tend to your needs. Someone you trust and feel you can rely on. I thought you must have a number of people in mind with you asking how many people/visitors you could have with you while having a hospital birth.

Dont go it alone coz my OH left me alone for 20 mins when i was in labour with number 2 and i freaked out and panicked xx
 
i agree, labour on your own is scary! even if you know whats goin on!! i paniked when FOB went to the vending machine first time :lol: i dont actually think your mum would freak out! my mum was the last person i wanted there, well aside from my dad! in the end they were the only people there and it was really special for all of us! dads got 4 kids and E was the first baby he's actually seen born cos he was at the other end with all of us!
 
What about talking to your mum about how you want your labour to go and that you need her to be a calm influence and advocate your birth plan. If you gave her things to focus on and time to get her head in a calm place then she could be the person you are after, I'm sure she would do anything to make you happy, she's your mum :)
