What happened at your post natal check up. Mine was post poned till today cuz i needed to have a smear as the hospital had requested it. I had to argue with the nurse for that ,who told me she would have to have a letter from the hospital. i told her to look in my notes. She seemed a right lazy cow.

The only other thing she did was take my blood pressure and weigh me. She tired to bully me into taking the pill, but i told her that we were fine using condoms. I hated ebery moment of it. But i felt it a waste of time. i thought she would have at least felt my tummy to make sure everything was back in place.

Do you have to make the appointment yourself or do you get a letter ?

Lola will be 6 weeks on Sunday

We had a routine 6wk check, both Isaac and myself, at the same time with the same Doc. She did all Isaac's checks and then just spoke to me for about 5mins asking if I was OK, I did say I had concerns about not feeling right 'down there', but she didn't seem concerned and that was that. So, I booked myself in for a later date to see a female Doc as I wanted a smear and a check, I felt both needed doing, and after that all was declared fine and a huge weight was lifted :)
Ring your GP surgery if you feel you need/want a post-natal check but haven't heard anything, speak to your HV, they should be able to advise better knwoing the GP you see

My surgery don't do post natal checks on the mother unless there is a serious medical reason apparently, they only check the baby.
At Alex's 6 week check the doctor undressed him and checked him over, plus weighed him, and asked me a couple of questions about whether he looks at lights and responds to noises.
I didn't get checked though.

At my 6 week check, Lennon was undressed, his hips were checking, his vision was too and his hearing. I was asked lots of questions about him. Regarding me he asked me how I was feel (very down and depressed) so was given some anti d's and he felt and looked at my scar too. He asked me about contraception and I said I didn't want any (we've never used any anyway so I wasn't about to start!)

I was instructed by the hospital to make my own 6 week postnatal check-up with my GP. They said that I should be offered a cervical smear during that check-up, but I had to make a separate appointment for the smear with the nurse from my GP practice.

OopsyDaisy did you not get a letter through the post from your surgery with the date on for your 6 week check? I had one here, just made me wonder

I had a letter through the post instructing me to attend my post natal check up as it was very important to make sure everything was back in place after the birth.

I was on my period for my check up so I had my smear when Jake had his 1st injections. The doc just checked Jake and asked me questions about how im feeling/coping etc

The GP was kind enough to send me a letter of congratulations when he received notification of birth from the hospital, but he didn't arrange a 6 week check-up for me, so I had to make the appt myself.

i had mine about 7 weeks and i was quite surpised how the doc didn't take much time with me. he didn't say much.

he checked my belly, checked my weight and basically said come back when you have your period. :|

i thought it might of been abit more of a check up not a glance though

the doc did quite a few checks on millie but the nurse hardly did any checks on me. just took BP and gave me some condoms!

i was just told to bring the baby for his check and providing i felt ok to go to the family planning to arrange contraception  only had my smear last week and C is over 6 months now they dont like doing them before 6 months as they say the cervix is still like mush from the pregnancy till then still waiting for the results apparently it takes 6-8 weeks at the moment xxxxxxxxx
