am very worried because iv been peeing on boots own ovulation predictor sticks and only the control line ever appears there is meant to be two lines and if the left one is darker it means the surge has been detected but only ever the control line appears

what does this mean? its happened on 3 tests now and am worried its something am not producing at all

OPKs detect LH hormone which surges about 24 - 48 hours prior to ovulation. From your ticker it looks like you have 32 day cycles and are currently on day 12. Ovulation occurs about 14 days before the first day of your period so you'd expect to get your LH surge (and hence a strong line on the OPK) on or around day 16, so its probably just a little bit early.

Make sure you don't test with first morning urine as the LH hormone isn't as strong first thing. Also, it is possible to miss your surge if you are only testing once a day.

Try not to worry about it, am sure its just a bit too early to get a positive result.

Hi Lillou,

I assume when you say that this has happened on 3 tests that you mean that you have tested over the last three days. It may be that you have not had a surge yet. You ticker indicates that you are on day 12 of a 32 day cycle. It could just be too soon - just keep testing.

I have a 28 day cycle and my surge was on day 14.

you don't always get two lines, depends on your "base level" of LH. We all have some all of the time, but the amount varies from woman to woman and on your cycle.
You'll probably find in the day or so leading to ov you'll start to get a faint second line - although I've had months where I've gone from nothing to a positive all in one go.

Hi ya, i also have 31/32 cycles and last month i ovulated on day 18 and this month about 19/20 so i think you should wait till your on day 16 to start testing or you might end up wasting all of your sticks...x.... happy peeing...hehe

thanks girls, i started peeing on them 3 days ago cos i have no idea roughly when i ovulate, it was just in case i was an early ovulator i didnt expect to ovulate but was worried when there wasnt even a faint 2nd line and the 1st line was faint, thanks girls
