Do any of you have any opinions on these nylon cots?

I am really going nuts over the price of traditional cots in Spain, then someone suggested I get one of these, as they can later be used as a playpen, plus I will need to probably transport it to the flat I am renting next to the hospital closer to due date! They are so much cheaper too and probably not for everyone, but I already have two spare single beds stored in my attic for when the baby is older too.

Baby is starting off in the crib i used to sleep in!! She's prob only last a max of 6 months in that as its small and depending on whether we co-sleep etc will depend on a cot.

i think they are a great idea. I'll be having a good look at them after the 5 month mark. My mum has already got 1 for her and they seem fab!

I asked my midwife if it would be ok for baby to sleep in one of these with a bassinette as a full time bed as i thought it would be more sturdy to use than a crib or moses basket (I have a 2 year old and don't want him to tip it over). She said that they were ok for occasional use but not as a full time bed becuase of the lack of support and comfort. So i bought a crib with fixed legs instead.

we have one for staying at nannies, but they dont have a matress just a slightly plasticy padded mat, so i wouldnt use it as a bed

Can you not find a second hand cot maybe? or get one from UK shipped out?

I don't think there would be any problems with using a travel cot for your baby... babies have slept in far worse, my mum was put in a draw for a few months... and the travel cots I am sure are much safer.

I gather Ikea is out of the window, in which case, bother Carrefore and Eroski (or at least they were) were doing deals on Travel cots. It might be an idea to go have a look... alternatively, if you can wait until after the 6th of January, the sales will be on and everything will be dirt cheap...

I don't think I will make it to then.

Also go to Ebay.es.. and type cuna....

I found this although I think you need to go collect it... but just send them a message and ask if they will ship it.. otherwise there are other cheaper alternatives than the ones in the local shops.. you know the ones that charge 800€ for a cot
