i've got a hospital appointment on friday - i am due to have an elective csection - my hospital does them at 39weeks (24th sept) BUT - my dh is starting a uni degree course that week and so will not be at home to help me - what do you think the chances are i can convince the hospital to do the section at 38weeks (not to be picky or anything) just that would mean he could take a weeks hols to help me at home
what will i say to the hospital - do you think it would help if i cried?? (i can do that at the drop of a hat - no probs :D )

I'm sure if you explained your reasons for wanting the C section at a different time they'd listen Annie. 39 weeks is quite late isn't it? My hospital do the same timing although I have heard of others who have to have a CS at 37/38 weeks. Anyway it's certainly worth asking as you will need your DH's support if possible.

I think if you explain they will listen....39 is 'later' for a c-section anyway, friend her hers yesterday at 37 weeks (baby was breach if that makes a difference? I know very little about sections) and I know another lady who's got her date confirmed earlier because her husband is in the air force and due to be deployed overseas type thing. I think if it's for a reason rather than just fed up and want your baby type thing they would listen to you.

Good luck to your OH with the degree course, I loved my University days with a passion, really great memories (although hard work too!!).

I reckon they will so long as your surgeon is available, they are planning on doing mine between 36/37 weeks so should imagine they will do yours at 38 no problem as baby is full term at 37.
Good luck chicken just express your reasons for the week earlier i'm sure they will listen, only problem is you'll be in for a few days i imagine so would think that your DH would need the following week off if that makes sense?

you should be OK, we were able to choose our date today for when ever we wanted. They wanted to do it at the end of this week but I asked if it could be next Wednesday because DH parents were on holiday and the consultant just laughed and turned to the 25th in the diary!

If he is your main support then I am sure they will be understanding especially as you are booked in so far in advance, good luck!
