Well me and hubby have decided on Mark but we are still stuck on a middle name, does the baby have to have one? Our surname is Ryder. I am glad we at least have one name we agree on!

Lovely nane, unusual as you dont often hear of any marks nowadays, lovely.

You dont have to have a middle name atall if you dont want to, athougth think carefully as if you have any more kids it might be unfair to give thrm a middle name if you change your mind.

I gave mine middle names incase they hate their first name when much older. My dad is called simon christopher and hated simon so when he became an adult he swapped them and is called chris! No depoll etc needed or explanations needed, still a name his mum chose

My mum has 3 middle names, so she decided when she had kids they wouldn't have middle names, so we don't.
Mark is a lovely name, I really like it xx

If you're stuck on what to use as a middle name, then maybe it's best not to have one. My little boy's is Samuel, after my dad Usama (Sam) and my OH's dad Melvyn (Mel) - Samuel was the closest thing to putting them together.

If we ever have a girl, her middle name will be Kathryn after my Mum, OH doesn't speak to his, so no arguments there...

I think middle names are non-essential, but a great way to pick a name you like as the first name and still honour family members...

Picking up on the comments that a couple of other people have made, I have three brothers, an older half brother from my Mum, a full brother, and a younger one from my dad, and they all have middle names, and I don't! My name is quite long, but I'm so jealous, I'd love a middle name!

So I agree with it not being fair if a later sibling gets a middle name haha!

I don't have a middle name. Neither does my daughter. I don't see the point in them really. If you want to change your name, anyone can anyway. My cousin did.
