Phantom smells/smellucinations?

I know your sense of smell is well heightened during pregnancy. But is anyone else smelling things that literally are not there? For the past couple of months I've had bad migraines, visual problems and stabbing head pain. Seen about 6 doctors none seem too concerned but I am off to a neurologist just to check a while after the baby is here. Finally the past three days I hAvnt had many visual issues and I hAvnt had one headache! Sounds daft but made me want to cry from relief as I've been terrified this might be a brain tumor or annurysm. They check behind my eyes and see no pressure on the brain. I'm now left with now and again getting a feeling of a strange smell asif I smell it but then I sniff properly and it's not there. Theese smells have only happend a few times but are freaking me out. It's usually disinfectant gas or cigarette smoke. No one in my house smokes. This has freaked me a bit as I'm scared something could be seriously wrong. Also getting a bit of a twitchy eye! Has anyone else had any "smellucinations"?

Yup! I could smell something for weeks at work & everyone said I was imagining it. Then suddenly a colleague could smell it so it got looked into....2 dead rats!

Chances are you're picking up the smell from somewhere...maybe peopl walking by the house & smoke wafting in through vents? xx

I can't tell you what it could be but just wanted to let you know that all through June and July 2012 after being very dizzy to cut a long story short ( I'm still poorly and they don't know why) I smelled smells really strongly - I could smell an orange being opened downstairs in the kitchen when I was in the bedroom with the door shut! Then started the phantom gas/petrol smell and a flowery talc type smell. Had bad headaches and migraines, I still see black spots like I did then, I lost weight etc and couldn't hold myself up. MRI and ct scans fine, lumbar puncture fine and numerous blood tests. The smells have gone away but still smell stuff strongly. No explanation. So don't worry and please don't google! I had so many symptoms so didn't get full treatment by neurologist as everything happened so quickly and as I didn't have a job they coupled that with my symptoms and told me I had depression. I'm still suffering with dizziness and a whole host of other related stuff.

Really hope it's just pregnancy related for you and the symptoms subside soon, it is so scary! X
